Story Title: Five Teachers' Thoughts On Juudai
Characters: Samejima, Chronos, Daitoukuji, Cobra, Satou
Story Word Count: 500
Timeline: Generally set after season four.
Notes: I came up with this one during my recent computer problems. This also contains a couple of bits of my head-canon, as well as the points of view of two dead people, after their deaths.
Summary: Five teachers give their opinion on the laziest student in the school, after his graduation.
You don't know that your mother's maiden name was Samejima: that she is my cousin. You should, but I asked your parents not to tell you. I didn't want anyone to believe that you qualified here because we are related. You didn't. You won it all on your own, no matter what Chronos thought at the time.
I would have been proud of you no matter what. I did what I could to help you grow up. All I could do was hope that you did half as well as you did. You made me so proud. Thank you, Juudai.
When I look back on that first day, I scarcely believe all the changes that you've caused in me. Not merely to take joy in dueling, but to see beyond the surface for the potential hidden under bad grades and lack of attendance. In the end, you were the one who taught me far more than I ever taught you.
I anticipate the day that we will see each other again, as I look forward to the new students, whatever their dorm. They won't be you, but I'll look for their own gifts, as you go out to use yours.
You are an alchemist, Juudai-kun. You may not know it or believe it, but you are. An alchemist changes objects, or people. That is what you do. You can ask anyone who has been changed by their contact with you. From Professor Chronos to young Marufuji Shou, and so many others. Myself included. I want to see what else you can do, who else you can change. That is one of the reasons that I stay with you.
I know you will change the world itself. Perhaps you already have. The world is made of people, after all. Well done.
I did not come to Duel Academia to help you or be helped by you, save for your strong duel energy. I knew that Yubel had her own reasons for watching you, but she never told me what those were. I was only a tool to her, as I can see now, to be thrown away once my usefulness was over with.
I do not mind. She kept her promise. Rick and I are together, never to be parted again, for eternity.
You gave me in the end what I wanted since Rick died. You gave me death.
Thank you.
You understand now. Perhaps it took pain, death, and insanity for you to learn to see the trash on the ground, but now you do. You do not leave it there, as you might have before. You see problems and you work to fix them, regardless of if they are your problems or not.
Do not mourn for me. I had nowhere to go and nothing to look forward to anymore. If I had won, I doubt that I would have survived the loss of my energy. You earned that victory and all that came after.
Remember my lessons, Juudai-kun.
The End
