Somebody

Elliot walks into a diner down on Broadway. The hostess sits him down at a booth and then his waitress comes along.

"Hi, I 'm Olivia and I'll be your waitress today. What can I get for you today?" The young woman greeted and smiled at him.

"Hi, I'm Elliot. Just some scrambled eggs and a coffee, black, thanks, Olivia," he smiled at her softly.

She walks off and then comes back with his coffee and eggs.

"I've been married for fifteen years and all of a sudden she doesn't love me anymore," he laughed looking at a picture of him, Kathy and the kids.

At a diner down on Broadway they make small talk
When she brings his eggs and fills his coffee cup
He jokes about his love life
And tells her he's 'bout ready to give up
That's when she says,"I've been there before
Keep on lookin'
'Cause maybe who you're lookin' for is..."

Somebody in the next car
Somebody on the morning train
Somebody in the coffee shop
That you walk right by everyday
Somebody that you look at
But never really see
Somewhere out there is somebody

"Thanks Olivia," he smiled and waved to her as he got up and left the diner.

He got into the crowded elevator up to his office and on it was ADA Alexandra Cabot.

Across town in a crowded elevator
He can't forget the things that waitress said
He usually reads the paper
But today he reads a stranger's face instead
It's that blue-eyed girl
From two floors up
Maybe she's the one
Maybe he could fall in love with

Somebody in the next car
Somebody on the morning train
Somebody in the coffee shop
That you walk right by everyday
Somebody that you look at
But never really see
Somewhere out there
Is somebody

Olivia walks into the office of Captain Donald Cragen. Elliot gets up out of the lounge chair he had been sitting in and turns towards her.

"Detective Elliot Stabler this is your new partner Detective Olivia Benson," Don waved towards her and smiles.

"Hi," he stuttered as he outreached his hand to her.

"Hi," she laughed as he took his hand.

They both walk out to the bullpen and Elliot shows Olivia to their desk and they both sit down. They joke about how they met and how things are now.

Now they laugh about the moment that it happened
A moment they'd both missed until that day
When he saw his future in her eyes
Instead of just another friendly face
And he wonders why
He searched so long
When she was always there at that diner waiting on

Somebody in the next car
Somebody on the morning train
Somebody in the coffee shop
That you walk right by everyday
Somebody that you look at
But never really see
Somewhere out there
Oh somewhere out there is somebody
