AUTHOR: Captain Devine
SUMMARY: House responds to Wilson's speech about his misery.
PAIRINGS: Wilson/House
SPOILERS: Need to Know (2x11)
DISCLAIMER: If I could buy House, M.D. with $3.25, I'd own it. But I've only got $3.20.
A/N: A friend dared me to make a list of every colour shirt Wilson has worn and the corresponding times in which he wears them for seasons one and two. I did it, and came across the ending for Need to Know again, and was in the mood for some pointless slash. The first line is what Wilson says at the end of the episode. By the way, it's 03:04 in the morning. Review please.
"Being miserable doesn't make you better than anybody else, House. It just makes you miserable," Wilson said, staring at House, disappointment in his brown eyes. House just stared out into the night sky, refusing to comprehend what Wilson was trying to say.
Wilson sighed and turned to go back down the stairs. "Wait," House called sharply, grabbing Wilson's hand. The contact of skin caused Wilson to take a soft intake of breath before turning around, making eye contact with his friend.
House looked at him for a moment, surveying the emotions in Wilson's face. Confusion, anger, apprehension. . .they were all there. "You're right," House spoke finally, placing his hands on Wilson's hips. "But being miserable makes everyone else feel better about themselves." He touched his lips to Wilson's in a soft kiss, closing his eyes. He felt Wilson's lips tighten and his whole body tense, but House did not pull back.
They stood like that for mere seconds, but the time passed slowly for the two. House began to realize the stupidity of his action until something unexpected brought him back to the reality of his position.
Wilson kissed back.
Moments later, they parted, but continued to hold onto one another. A smile found its way onto House's features, and House found one on Wilson's as well. "Only you could find love in misery," Wilson said, kissing House again.
