Prologue

Quinn was smiling, swinging her and Santana's joined hands back and forth as they walked through the park. It was quite peaceful and really nice actually; the sun wasn't so hot and there weren't many annoying kids around.

Quinn couldn't recall ever being happier than she was at this moment, or basically just the last two months. Santana was her first girlfriend, and Quinn may just be young and naïve, but she was pretty positive she would be her only girlfriend. Santana would be the girl Quinn would spend the rest of her life with, and she was sure of it.

Quinn could see it now. The marriage ceremony, the house together, the adopted kids—

Quinn's train of thought came to an abrupt stop when she realized they weren't walking anymore. She pulled her hand out of Santana's and turned to face her.

"What's wrong? Why did we stop?"

Santana looked at Quinn now. "I think I'm gonna break up with you." she said casually.

Quinn's breath caught, refusing to believe what she had just heard. "W-what? Are you serious?" Quinn's voice was quiet and shaky; her head was spinning and dread settled into the pit of her stomach as the words sunk in. Not even sixty seconds ago she was dwelling on how incredibly happy she was. But Santana just shrugged and began to walk away.

"Wait! Santana, don't—"

But Santana was leaving.

And with her she was taking the only future Quinn ever dreamed of having.

It happened the same way every time.

First Santana would lure them in with her looks, which took little to no effort at all. Santana Lopez was naturally very gorgeous. Her thick black hair was always pulled back into a high ponytail, her vague yet noticeable makeup was always flawlessly done… not to mention her legs (which the Cheerio outfit complimented perfectly) or even just her body in general. Santana Lopez was undeniably the sexiest person most of Lima's inhabitants had ever laid eyes on, or would ever lay eyes on for that matter. It wasn't just that, though. Santana's aura elicited such a strong sense of confidence, control, and charm. She had power over nearly everyone in the school, being the head cheerleader and all. Everyone obeyed Santana's commands, no matter how unwilling the recipient may be. However, even though almost everyone feared Santana, they definitely respected her at the same time. And if you were lucky enough – or unlucky, perhaps – to date her, you were automatically respected too. All these things made the second step pretty effortless: getting them to fall for her. Because while it was just an act, Santana could also be a very caring, genuine person.

The third step was perhaps pretty obvious: the heart-breaking. For the past girlfriends it was very painful and soul-crushing; while in Santana's case it was quite the opposite. In fact, Santana could care less about the possible permanent damage she could be inflicting on the young girls' hearts.

Easy for Santana.

Hard for Rachel.

Hard for Tina.

Hard for Quinn.

Now, you might pity Brittany Pierce – McKinley High's newest student. You might not. Because Brittany has no idea that Santana was just conveniently looking for a new addition to her list…
