Izaya wasn't the most patient man in the universe. He looked cheerful sometimes, hell, even on the most shitty days, but, everyone knew the word 'cheerful' wasn't even the correct description and there were other words that would best describe him like sly, malicious, whatever... Today, Izaya had to venture out to the woods again to search for firewood. Of all the chores he had to do, he hated that one. You know, having to deal with muddy ground, knee-high wet grass and heaven knows what's inside it. Having to lean and bow here and there, crouch even just to get some fancy branches and twigs so that he could bring them home just to burn them all later in his fireplace. Oh, he got to tie them all with ropes and carried the back-breaking weight on his too thin back all the way before he reached home. Usually he will leave it to Namie to do it for him. Today though, the woman was out of the village and he had to do it himself even in this shitty weather.
It had been raining just after he left his house and since he was already deep in the woods, turning back was just plain stupid. So, he trudged on, slipped in the mud a few times just enough for him to swallow the damn thing and felt it on his tongue all the way through his journey. Izaya was shivering from cold and he would kill just to be back in his home that instant, drinking hot tea. Soon, he reached a river and the current right after the rain scared him a little. Well, just a little. Izaya didn't get scared, obviously. He hopped onto the large rocks, stepping precariously one by one to cross it.
It was right at that moment he saw something strange in the water. Stuck between the sharp rocks, it laid still, something flowy like fabrics waving carelessly in the water by its sides. Izaya hopped away upstream squinting curiously to take a better look.
A carcass maybe. A dead deer is common in this area. Some stupid folks hunted their prey all the time just to lose it later. But, isn't that...clothes?
Upon reaching closer, Izaya wasn't even surprised to find limbs bent in odd angles, military garment torn in rags, a little bloody, and blond hair.
