She wails alright, wails for so many. For the young couple who committed suicide, for Erica and Boyd, for Aiden and Ethan, and the one that hurt the most, Allison.
Lydia Martin is no longer the girl she was back in the 8th grade, no, she's something more, something she barely understands. She spends weeks doing research, finding more questions than answers, and she knows that things aren't going to just appear to her, but God she wishes they would.Lydia has many regrets, mainly related to people. Three stand out to her the most. Peter, Meredith, and Allison, God how she regrets things.
Peter, she tries not to remember. He violated her, made her lose confidence in herself. Some nights, Lydia likes awake, wondering if killing Peter would get rid of the nightmares, if it would be easier to look at herself in the mirror if he was dead. Malia, Scott and her have a conversation about this, one late night before the end of senior year. He ruined all of their lives, and that's something none of them would ever be able to forgive him for.
Peter Hale is a scream she's still waiting on, one that she knows will revel in.
Meredith is a mistake, and she sees it crumble, like the sugar cookies her mother used to buy when she was little. Meredith, ends up, being committed to Eichen House, placed under high security, and never seeing daylight again. Lydia almost regrets it, but then she is reminded of the hit list, of all the pain Meredith put her through. She wonders if things could have been different, if they could have ended up better. She'll never really know.
Allison, is too painful to even think about. It's been almost 3 years since Allison's death, and Lydia still can't face it. Allison was her best friend, one of the only people who saw Lydia for who she is. Allison's death broke her. She goes to Allison's grave one Friday night, the rest of the pack are hanging out ; but Lydia needs to be there, needs to sit at the gravestone, run her fingers over the embossed words. Allison's grave reads, Celestine Allison Argent, born January 31, 1994, died March 17th 2014. Allison was 17. Allison will never go to college, she won't marry Isaac or whoever she would have married, or do anything ever again. More times than she'll admit, Lydia finds herself screaming herself awake, Allison's name on her lips, the pain as fresh as the day Allison died.
Many things are said about her. Lydia isn't sure how many are true.Valack says, "That pretty little thing could shatter your skull with her voice if someone decided to teach her how."
And shatter his skull, she does. Lydia Martin is no longer the girl she was back in the 8th grade, no, she's something more, something she barely understands. But it's ok, because the Lydia Martin from 8th grade wouldn't have been able to survive this, she would have surrendered a long time ago.
Now, Lydia Martin will never surrender, not to anyone. Lydia Martin is a force to be reckoned with, and her scream flies through the air like a ricocheting bullet. There's a quote, that reads, "A Girl Is a Gun", if this is true, then Lydia is a gun that keeps shooting.
And that's just how she likes it.
