AN: I felt like taking a break from some of my other stuff and try to wrap my head around some YJ things. Obvious disclaimer is obvious.

There is only one place that he goes to when Roy isn't around or is busy. He doesn't come here much often as he used to, but it's his place. In the midst of the ocean, far from any other living being, is an underwater mountain peak that once spewed heated gaseous bubbles to the surface. It has laid dormant for years-perhaps even centuries in sleep.

And this was his place.

He had discovered it a long time ago when he was much younger and had gotten lost from his school. Later, he would learn he had caused such a panic that even had the palace guards looking for him. (The palace guards who protected the king and queen of Atlantis came looking for an impure commoner like himself! At such a time, he never knew why.)

But back then, when he had been lost, he had swam to the top of this peak and sat there to rest. The vastness of the ocean laid before him in varying shades of blue. He had, in foolish hopes, strained to hear any sounds of anyone- anything- living that was passing by. That maybe he could ask them to help him.

As he had strained to hear even the low songs of the whales; silence only greeted him.

For many, it would almost seem as if the enormity of the ocean was terrifying because it made them feel small and insignificant. In truth, he had felt that way as well when he was a boy.

He doesn't any more, of course.

Now, he sits on his mount peak, and stares out into the vastness of the ocean, allowing the silence to seep through his mind and surround him with it's stillness. It's only when he can't bear it any longer, - the silence that surrounds him taunts his ever so vocal mind to replay events, things that were beyond his control, words that he overheard from the Team, fights that he's had and had to compromise even though it ate at him inside- he lets it out.

The sound he makes feels like a roar into the depths of the ocean. Announcing his presence to any and all that would pass by. He roars into it; displaying all the aggression he's forced to suppress. His roars are laced with everything from anger to sorrow. Though, sometimes, he roars for the sheer joy of making such a sound. Sometimes, he roars just to make any sound at all.

He roars again, and again and again, until he exhausts himself of the emotions he's held tightly to his chest. He sits and rests until he can find the energy to go back to his world. The world that he knows, maybe in the back of his mind, that is slowly gripping his throat tighter and tighter the longer he resides there.

Roy maybe his oasis in this world but when there are times when Roy cannot be found- Kaldur always has his silent peak to roar from in the vast quietness of the ocean.
