Well, it has been a while since I wrote a fanfic. My life has been been very hectic recently (And it will continue to be that way for a long time), so don't expect rapid updates like I used to do when I first started writing. Hope you enjoy this, because it may be the last fanfic I write for a while.

Lord Death had been surprisingly silent recently. Whether it was because he was getting over the events with the Kishin or something else, Spirit found it oddly unnerving. Lord Death never was this quiet.

"Sir, are you feeling okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine Spirit," He reassured the redheaded Death Scythe, "I'm just concerned for the future."

"I'm pretty sure it's more than that," Spirit said, "You always seem to be concerned about the future, but you're never very quiet."

"Tell me," Lord Death began, "How much do you know about the Book of Eibon?"

"Isn't a book that contains all of Eibon's wisdom?" Lord Death nodded.

"You're right, but there is so much more to it than that, and it's not all sunshine and rainbows." Spirit raised an eyebrow. What more could there be to a simple book?

"Care to enlighten me?" He asked. Lord Death looked back at him.

"Are you sure you want to know?" Spirit gave him a confident nod.

"Very well. Many years ago..."

Flashback

Lord Death didn't know what to say to his sorcerer. He knew Noah was always a bit of a weird person, but he never would have thought he would go as far as to do force one of his own allies to such a terrible fate.

"Noah, what have you done?" Lord Death asked, shocked. The sorcerer in front of him smirked.

"You heard me," Noah said, "I sealed him."

"Why?"

"It's essential for me to become everything," He explained "Don't take this personally."

"You...you're completely insane..."

"If that's what you want to call it, so be it," Noah charged at the reaper, "It won't matter once you join him as part of my collection!"

The fight that would ensue ended in Noah getting a taste of his own medicine. He was sealed up within the book of Eibon, where he would spend the rest of his life should the book stay intact. It was then that he would become nothing more than a forgotten relic of the past.

End

"So, you're worried that this 'Noah' will escape the book of Eibon?" Spirit concluded.

"Precisely," Lord Death confirmed, "I know that the book is harmless by itself and can only free Noah if it's destroyed, which is highly unlikely, but I can't help but worry."

"If you're so worried, why not add some extra security to the library?"

"Well, not the library specifically, just for the book. Perhaps I should take it out and guard it myself."

"If that's what you think is the best course of action."

Somewhere else

Giriko and Mosquito had nowhere to go. Now that Arachnophobia was destroyed, they not only lost their home and their leader, but in a way, they had no purpose. The long time that was spent travelling after the death of Arachne made them reflect that they mainly served as pawns for her. To be fair, Giriko already kind of knew this after his recent fight with Justin Law, but Mosquito only just figured it out.

"Now what?" Asked Giriko, "With Lady Arachne gone, now where do we go?"

"I say we continue what she set out to do," Replied Mosquito, "The DWMA shall perish."

"So you're saying we continue to be her pawns even after death?"

"Well, can you come up with a better idea? At least be glad that we managed to come up with something to make us continue."

"Just the two of us though?" Giriko questioned, "The DWMA outnumbers us a hundred to one. We'll die before we even have a chance to attack."

"Then we'll just have to use the element of surprise."

"I might be able to help you guys out with that."

The two former Arachnophobia members looked up to see a young boy hanging from a tree branch. His black hair was short and tame, and he seemed to be wearing a white shirt with a black vest over it that had various designs over it. He also wore black pants.

"Just who the hell are you anyway?" Asked Giriko.

"I'm just someone that might be able to help you," He replied simply, "My name is Gopher."

"What exactly could you do that could benefit us?" Mosquito questioned.

"While it is true that you may not be able to face the DWMA on your own, I know someone that can." Gopher told them.

"Really?" Giriko raised an eyebrow, "Who is this 'someone' that you are talking about?"

"He isn't here," He stated in a somewhat somber tone, "However, I know where he is and how to free him."

The two took a moment to think things through. Sure, it would be nice to know that they could get a little back-up, but they were still skeptical because they didn't know what this back-up was. This boy didn't seem to want them dead, but it could have been just an act. Mosquito decided to speak his concerns.

"How do we know we can trust you?"

"Trust me, I mean absolutely no harm by what I'm offering," Gopher said, "If my master does mean to harm you, I will try to stand up for you the best I can, though it's not guaranteed I will be by your side for long."

After a few more moments of pondering their decision, the finally reached a conclusion.

"Very well," Mosquito said with finality, "We accept your offer." Gopher smiled.

"I'm glad to hear that."

So yeah, I changed up Noah and Gopher's origins to fit the anime's story. I hope it wasn't too bad. I guess you could also take this as a rewrite of my deleted story "Soul Eater: Greed and Wrath." Like I said at the top, updates might take quite a while. Please review and give me some constructive feedback to see if I can make any improvements. Take care.
