Prologue
The night was crisp and cool the smell of summer was fading and being claimed by the fall weather. The trees swayed in the breeze as the wind picked up scattering some of the golden leaves that have fallen from the trees. The moonlight shown brightly in the sky casting what seemed to be a heavenly glow over the forest. As the wind blew you could hear the crunch of feet against the the debris on the ground signifying that someone or something was in the trees. You can see two figures in the trees walking with in the shadows keeping quiet. As they walk through a patch of moonlight you can see what they are wearing. Both are wearing cloaks blacker than the night itself. The hoods cover their faces in shadow as the moons light casts over them in the night. You could see the the figures were both humanoid and walking casually seeming to enjoy the night. As they walk they you can see that they are talking to one another quietly.
"It's quiet...so different from home..." One spoke the voice was male and it was a husky and calm almost as quiet as the wind if possible.
The other speaks in a deeper and huskier tone, "it's too quiet..." He looks around looking tense.
As he speaks the other realizes that there are no sounds around them. No crickets, no owls nothing the only sound they heard was the sound of the of the wind blowing quietly through the forest. They look to each other nervously and cautiously continue to make their way through the forest. As they walk they hear noises of bushes rustling and the sound of something running. They stop tensely looking around trying to pin point the sound. They step closer to each other and are back to back. The wind picks up blowing their cloaks around them. They look at each other from the corner of their eyes. Both boys share the same thought 'what is it?'
Suddenly a herd of deer explode from the bushes. The one boy grabs the others hand and shouts "RUN!"
Both boys take off in a dead spirit trying to out run the herd of deer. They weave in and out of the trees trying to get away from the herd of deer.
The one boy pants "what set them off?!"
The other replies "I don't know and I don't plan on stopping and waiting to find out!"
They continue to run through the trees. The trees begin to become few as they see a road come into view. They continue running hopping that they can get away from the herd. In hope of escaping the heard they dive across the road reaching the other side. They dive down in a ditch, and stay down as the herd continues running jumping over them. The boys are bent over in the ditch panting as the stampeding herd of deer vanish into the trees.
The boys look at each other and the one pants quietly "Th...that was... clo...close."
The other pants "It...wa...was."
The one boy peaks up over the ditch to see if anything is coming from the other side of the road when he sees nothing he ducks down and says, "It doesn't seem like anything was chasing them."
The other boy nods leaning against the other boy catching his breath. Then they both here the sounds of car breaks squealing, the sound of a window smashing and the sound of girls screaming. They both jump up and run out to into the road to see two girls in a car screaming with the front of the car smashed, the windshield shattered and a deer laying on the hood of the car.
