Okay, so we all know that Denmark doesn't have the brightest of ideas. Most of them include consuming large amounts of alcohol, which is why they're bad. But this most recent idea wasn't that bad, even I have to admit that. I just didn't expect it to leave our little town.
It started out one morning when he asked all of us (Sweden, Finland, Iceland, and myself) into the kitchen for a house meeting. If you don't know, it's usually Finland that will call us into the kitchen for group meetings since he's kind of like a mom. Maybe it was the giant grin on his face or the gleam in his eyes, but I knew he had an idea.
A feeling of dread formed in my stomach. 'Please tell me this one doesn't involve alcohol and cars,' I silemtly pleaded. The last time he went through with one of his ideas, Sweden drove us into the side of a fish store in Stockholm. And how did I lose my pants?!
"I've been thinking about something." Oh no. "We should start a band."
Okay, that's harmless. It'll only last for maybe a few cover songs and then fall through. Maybe we'd get recognition on the local news, but nothing major. This seems safe.
"That's not a bad idea," Sweden muttered. Recently, he's been talking more and doing more things. I think Finland's been trying to get him out of his shell. "What genre of music would it be?"
"I was thinking a mash up of rock and techno. And for awesome sounds and visuals, we could make some of the main instruments out of unwanted materials. Like oil drums, tarbs, old computers, sheets of metal, car parts, and stuff. But for the microphones and extremely technical stuff, we can use the originals and custom design them to look like we made them. I've got a buddy who makes guitars, and I'm sure he could make them out of recycled materials, too."
I can see this being a good idea. But even if the whole "band" thing falls through, we're at least helping the environment.
Finland jumped in and starting pitching ideas for band names and designing logos and all of that stuff while Iceland and I sat back and watched. Eventually he joined in, but I decided to wait for my turn.
"Hey, Norway," Finland said, "do you have any ideas?"
"I was thinking of the name 'Nordic5'," I replied calmly.
"Oh, I get it! 'Cause we're the Nordic countries," Denmark exclaimed. "I like it!"
Everyone else started nodding and talking about things. Then we started picking out instruments. Denmark chose to be lead vocals and lead guitar (of course), Finland chose keyboard, Iceland was on drums, Sweden was back up vocals and back up guitar, and I chose bass.
"Awesome! Nordic5 for the win!"
Finally, we stopped discussing things and actually started our day. Finland, naturally, made us breakfast.
"Toast with chocolate and a cup of coffee for Denmark, toast with lingonberry jam and a cup of coffee for Norway, toast with lingonberry jam and chocolate, a pickled herring, and a cup of coffee for Su~san, toast with lingonberry jam and a cup of coffee for me, and a cup of coffee for Iceland," he said sweetly while putting our plates and mugs in front of us.
I don't know why, but everyone was staring at me while I drank my coffee. "What?" I asked.
"We're just making sure you don't drink too much," Sweden said. "We don't need a repeat of last month."
'You were the one that gave me 3 cups of coffee,' I thought to myself.
