"This means nothing, you know that." His chest rumbles against her cheek, and she smiles softly and slightly painfully.

"I know. You don't "do" relationships."

As if in direct contradiction of his words he smoothes his fingers through the waves of her hair that flows over his naked chest. The sun starts to peek into the room, gentle light illuminating the entwined couple. Her hand reaches up to brush his face and he catches her fingers with a kiss without even opening his eyes. The tenderness with which he treats her leads her to believe that maybe things can be different.

A muttered hex and a loud swearing match caused Ginny Weasley and Draco Malfoy to be sitting opposite each other in the Hospital Wing for perhaps the tenth time that term as Madame Pomfrey tutted over their injuries.

"If that..that... complete and utter moron comes near me again..."

Ginny hissed with pain as Madame Pomfrey swabbed her cheek particularly hard after this statement. Normally the older woman would have been on the fiery redhead's side, but by all accounts this was an unprovoked attack on the Slytherin, most unusual for one Ginevra Weasley. Malfoy sat, tongue-tied. This was no mere accident however as Ginny had placed a Silencio on him behind McGonagall's enraged back as they had been marched and lectured all the way to the Infirmary. She stuck her tongue out at him and smirked, stealing his own expression and using it against him. Pomfrey lifted her head from her medical kit to see a battle of stares which, upon noticing her attention, swiftly sank into beatific smiles of innocence. She sighed and debated the wisdom of leaving them alone, but there was a first year that had had a rather nasty reaction to a Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes product that needed fairly urgent attention. She left them staring at each other in a vicious manner, until she was out of hearing distance and Ginny burst into giggles. Malfoy looked less than amused, and then stole a kiss as she bent towards him to remove the hex she'd placed on him.

"I'm still cross with you Malfoy!"

"I'm not the one who started it!"

"I had to make out that we still hated each other...you smiled at me!"

"It was only to piss off Potter," he mumbled.

"I can't believe you actually hexed me back," she retorted, "So much for the age of chivalry!"

He could hear the tension in her voice rising, and had heard enough Howlers from Molly Weasley over the years to try and placate her out of the oncoming fury.

"Honestly Weasley, it was automatic, I thought that it might have been someone else who attacked me."

This was a lie, but if it got him out of trouble, he was willing to give it a shot. Ginny's brown eyes softened and she raised her wand to heal the remainder of the scratches on is face. He flinched slightly but hid his apprehension; it wasn't only the Bat Bogey hex that she had perfected over the years. She kissed him then, a gentle brushing of her lips against his, chaste as could be, befitting the innocent little Ginny Weasley. He kissed her back, sliding his tongue into her perfect mouth and moaning gently as her body rose to meet his and her hands tangled in his hair and pulled him further into the embrace. This was the side of her that only he got to see, passionate, fiery and deliberately wanton. Her eyes met his, so dark that he could see his reflection in them.
