There is a very funny story behind my inspiration for this fic. It's a bit long, so feel free to skip it if you'd like. My best friend "Eitak" really likes the Nature Valley Sweet'n'Salty almond granola bars. She gets one every day at lunch. One day we were joking about how it was her "inner Hiei" that was persuading her to buy a healthy snack. Pretty soon I was commenting that Kurama would make fun of Hiei's obsession with granola bars. Our imaginations just kind of took off and this is the result. Enjoy!
Warning: Hiei is slightly OOC.
Disclaimer: Mochiron (of course), I don't own Yuu Yuu Hakusho.
Everyone's favorite kitsune was slumbering peacefully until he felt something poke him. Groaning slightly, Kurama rolled over and yanked the blanket over his head, only to have it pulled away by an irate fire yokai.
"Kurama!" Hiei hissed urgently. "You're out of Nature Valley almond granola bars!"
"What do you want me to do about it?" came the extremely irritable and muffled reply. Kurama had rolled onto his stomach so his face was in his pillow.
"Go get some, of course", Hiei stated as if this were the most obvious thing in the world.
"Hiei, do you know what time it is?" Kurama asked in such a dangerously calm voice that Hiei should have known he was in for it.
"Five o'clock" Hiei replied without missing a beat.
"Exactly!" Kurama exclaimed, sitting up as his eyes flashed gold. "Why in all of Makai do you want granola bars at five in the morning?"
"I'm hungry. Why else would I want them?" Hiei answered, completely unperturbed. Poor Kurama just moaned.
Ten minutes later
A sleepy-eyed Kurama stood in line at the nearest general store with a box of Nature Valley almond granola bars and a bottle of aspirin.
"What's the aspirin for, sir?" asked the overfriendly clerk.
"My impending headache", growled the redhead.
"I see…" stammered the poor clerk, who rubbed his eyes vigorously. He could have sworn that he saw fluffy white ears appear briefly on the young man's head. It was seven fifteen by the time Kurama finally got home. To his horrified shock, he found Hiei calmly sitting in the kitchen eating a Nature Valley almond granola bar.
"Where did you get that?" Kurama yelped.
"Oh, sorry. Your mother moved the box", Hiei replied tranquilly.
Thirty seconds later
Hiei dangled outside of Kurama's bedroom window, held in place by the branches of a particularly large and vicious-looking plant.
"Kitsune!" he bellowed angrily.
"Ah, I love the sound of mornings" Kurama said to himself with great satisfaction. He leaned out the window. "I'll let you down after school, Hiei." And with that, he strolled off to Meiou Academy.
Yes, I realize this is very short, but it's just a little one-shot I typed up in my spare time. R&R please! Constructive criticism welcome!
