Ch. 1
As Draco Malfoy stood on Platform 9¾, he tried to imagine what the coming school year would bring. He never would have guessed that his future was standing just a few feet away.
Out of the corner of his eye, Draco noticed a girl he had never seen before standing alone on the platform. She wasn't wearing Hogwarts robes, so he figured she must have been seeing someone off. Since he was, after all, Draco Malfoy, he decided to start up a conversation. Walking casually up behind the girl, Draco lightly tapped her on the shoulder. The girl, at least a head shorter than Draco's over six foot frame, turned around, looking slightly surprised.
"Hi," she said. "The name's Sarah. And you would be?"
"Draco Malfoy," said Draco slowly, somehow hypnotized by the girl. She was unlike anyone he'd ever seen before.
"Nice to meet you Draco," said Sarah, and she put out her hand. Draco took it without even realizing, as he was still staring at Sarah. It took Draco a moment to realize that Sarah was the first person he'd ever met (besides Pansy Parkinson, that is) that didn't make fun of his name.
'Damn, I wish she went to Hogwarts,' thought Draco (still staring, by the way). The next thing Sarah said snapped Draco from his thoughts.
"So, will I be going to Hogwarts with you?" asked Sarah. "It'd be nice to know someone besides my cousin and his two best friends before I get there."
"Y-you're going to Hogwarts??" stammered Draco. Stuttering around a girl was something Draco Malfoy certainly never did, so this was quite strange for him.
"Yupp," replied Sarah. "I just transferred here from the US."
"Really?" replied Draco. "I thought you sounded like an American."
"Yupp, straight from New York City," said Sarah. "I was going to The US Modern Witchcraft Academy, but I moved here to live with my cousin, so I transferred to Hogwarts."
Draco was fascinated by Sarah. She spoke dressed, and acted like no other girl he'd ever met. Just then Draco spotted something he really wasn't in the mood for now-The Golden Trio, Potter, Granger, and Weasley. Draco wondered if Sarah knew about them yet. He figured that as they passed by, he'd either say something, trip one of them, or both (all very conveniently in front of Sarah, of course). Potter looked like he was calling someone's name, but they obviously couldn't hear him over the noise of the incoming Express.
Brushing aside his thought s of Potter, Draco wondered who Sarah's cousin was, and if he knew them.
"So who's your cousin anyway?" asked Draco casually.
Sarah looked surprised at the question, then started to reply, "Oh, his name's..."
But before Sarah could finish, Draco finally heard who's name Potter had been calling. His insides froze as he heard:
"Hey Sarah! Sarah! Where've you been? We were looking for you!"
Before Draco knew what had happened, Potter had come up behind Sarah and put his arm around her.
"Hey Harry," she said casually, as if she'd said it all her life. "Hey Ron, 'Mione. What's up?"
Just then, Harry noticed Draco Malfoy within conversation distance of Sarah.
"Hey Sar, have, er, you been talking to anyone while you've been here?" asked Harry, turning slightly red.
Seeing the looks on both Harry's and Draco's faces, Sarah figured something must be up. Turning back to Draco, she realized she had never gotten to tell him who her cousin was.
"Oh Draco, I almost forgot. This is my cousin, Harry Potter."
