MSMF Prompt #92: Still in Diapers
"Good morning Alchemist!" Captain Shuggazoom strode into the lab where his friend was bent over yet another experiment. "What's the project of the day?"
"Oh hello old friend," the Alchemist said, looking up. "I am trying to create a force for good, to help you defend the city." He stood up and gestured for the crimefighter to step closer. "Observe, my monkey team!"
Captain Shuggazoom looked over the console at the six colored tubes filled with bubbling liquid and baby monkeys floating in them. "They're cute, but how are they going to help me defend the city?"
"Oh you'll see. First they have to grow up a little bit. They're still in diapers now, but that liquid is an accelerated growth medium. Soon they will be fully mature and then begins the fun!"
"Training a bunch of monkeys?" Captain Shuggazoom was beginning to think his old friend had finally lost it.
"No, creating mecha-enhanced robotic simians," the Alchemist said. "They're already quite intelligent but I will enhance their mental prowess, give them all sorts of tools and abilities, and each one will have special weapons so working as a team they will be able to take out any foe. You will finally be able to take that vacation you've always talked about."
Captain Shuggazoom chuckled. "I'll believe it when I see it. Sounds like a nice idea, though."
"You will see it old friend. They will be a great help to you, I promise."
An alarm siren began to sound. "Sounds like the city needs me," Captain Shuggazoom said. "Dinner later?"
"Are you buying?" the Alchemist asked, winking at his friend.
"Don't I always? See you at the usual time!" he called as he ran out the door of the lab.
The Alchemist chuckled and turned back to his control panel. "Yes, old friend, but soon I shall repay you in my own way."
