Based on Season 2, Episode 20 "What Is and What Should Never Be"

Prompt: "Dean you're drunk – you're drunk dialling me" – Sam

When Sam left for Stanford Dean stopped talking to him, even stopped talking about him. Not that John would have acknowledged his existence if Dean did; Sam become meaningless the second he gave up on the hunt.

And if Dean found himself glancing at the passenger seat of the Impala once too often, and if he requested twin rooms at every stinking motel, it wasn't like he missed Sam or anything; it was just habit.

And if he saved the last crumbs of cereal at the bottom of every box, or slept in the bed closest to the door with the gun under his pillow, it wasn't like he expected Sam to come back and need protecting; it was just that big brother instinct kicking in.

And if after a night of heavy drinking he found Sam's number was the last one he called, and his hand was still down his pants all sticky – then that was just the drink talking.

It was the drink that called up Dean's baby brother and begged him to come home. It was the drink that imagined Sam sucking Dean off: those sweet soft lips locked around his cock like they used to. It was the drink that always remembered – not Dean.

It certainly wasn't Dean who cried when Sammy said to put the phone down and go to bed. It wasn't Dean who offered Sam anything he wanted if he would just come back to him; if he would just love him one more time.

And it wasn't Dean who drove past Stanford every other week, just to catch a glimpse of Sammy and his deep brown eyes, hiding unseen in the shadows.

Because Dean didn't miss him, not one bit.
