After the Silence
I'm sitting down here again to write,
another poem, another creep of thought.
Everyone has gone to sleep,
leaving me alone in this room tonight.
I've put the pen to the paper,
and let my thoughts begin to wander.
As I think of how
I see each and every one of you.
Wild star, shining bright,
coming out of the dark recesses,
you've come to wake me out
of the boredom that was my life.
Cautious willow, calm as silk,
looking for your lost prince
you awoke the gentleman warrior
that I thought I'd never be.
Guardian angel, pursuer of justice,
you stand watch over peace and love,
you remind me that life can be
joyous without knowing of sorrow.
Child goddess, I see in you
the awakening of a noble heart.
After you've grown, I know you'll be
one of my greatest and truest friends.
A living eclipse, how I see you;
so beautiful, yet so ominous.
A reminder that there is nothing that
is untouchable by a focused heart.
You've all come here and now, asleep
under this house, this roof.
Some of you professed your passion,
some have stayed aloof.
Here I sit, yet again,
another poem said and done.
A worded battle with my heart
finished, but yet to be won.
After the silence permeates the
the world that I think I know,
I realize that I'll have all of you
with me, wherever I may go.
