A Percy Jackson & The Olympians fic.

Skyscraper.

By: bubble drizzles

Disclaimer: I don't own PJO or Skyscraper, the song.

AN: Heeey guys. So this is a Lacy-centered fic, obviously I got the idea while listening to Skyscraper and reading Lex's (xXxDaughteroftheKingxXx) oneshot, "Mirror, Mirror On The Wall" (Go check it out!). I guess that's it . . . sorry for not posting much recently. Group project worth 33% of my grade. Blehhh. But that was due on August 22nd! The reason why I haven't upload THIS yet was because I was waiting for someone *coughMaxcough* to edit it, which obviously she didn't. THANKS Max, THANKS! I think I'm done ranting. heh.

Enjoyzizzle.

Everyday, she wakes up, wishing today would be better than yesterday. Better than any day in her life. She's tired of being brought down by others, tired of letting them ruin her days. But still, she can't help but feel so damn unimportant.

She's not like other Aphrodite's. She doesn't have the looks; the luxurious hair, the dazzling eyes, the graceful and beautiful features. Nor is she as smart as some who don't have all the beauty. She's just plain, stupid old Lacy.

"You're beautiful darling," her dad used to say, "Just the way you are".

"Yeah right, dad," she'd reply, "You're just saying that cause you're my father!"

But secretly, she loved it. And now, she doesn't even have those affectionate words to make her feel better about herself. Why'd you have to go, dad? she thinks, Why'd you have to leave me? .

"Out of the way, hon," Drew bumps her aside and mocks, "Wouldn't want to break the fragile thing now would we?"

Her stupid posse laughs with her, making Lacy feel worse. She's 4'9", 12 years old, wears glasses and braces, blonde - but messy and thick - hair, dark brown eyes and thin. But not thin like Drew or Silena. No, they're pretty like that. Lacy's too thin, she's fragile, she's small, looks like her bones will break with one small crash. She's ugly, she's stupid.

And Drew makes sure she never forgets that.

She cries herself to sleep, every single day. It's not right, a girl shouldn't feel like this. That's bullying, she heard about it in school before her dad died. She knows she must stand up, she knows she must fight for herself, she know she must at least talk to an adult about it. But she can't. She's too weak.

But she knows, somehow she knows, that she'll be rising from the ground, like a skyscraper. And soon, she'll be taller than everyone who tried to push her down.

I'm totally against bullying, by the way. If you're bullied, tell someone you trust, someone to help you. If you see someone being bullied, don't just stand there watching; do something! That person may be feeling miserable, and only needing a friend. Be that friend! Stand up against bullying, it's not right to treat people this way!
