It had always been something she had taken for granted, the simple activity of sitting down to enjoy a meal. Really enjoy a meal. She often had to scramble to eat. They never knew when their meals would be interrupted by some rampaging youkai. She often missed such simple times, and how her family would bond. Of course, she had her family there, too. They grew closer with each battle, with each victory . . . and each defeat. But there were some things she'd always miss.

"Here."

The rough voice startled her, and she glanced up, confusion lighting her eyes. Golden eyes gazed at her as a clawed hand held out a glass that, no doubt, had come from her home.

"What's this?"

"That glass of juice you wanted."
