Note: This fanfic was written many years ago, I thought of doing some touch-ups and fixing the writing since I'll be continuing this series of fanfics. All chapters shall be edited and fixed –hopefully with not many major changes- so certain plot issues would still be present, but hope you enjoy the renewed publication of my first fanfic.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the original characters. This is a fanfiction that can change a bit of the characters' traits and relationships as well as some facts relating the original series.

CHAPTER 1: A STRANGER

Somewhere in Domino city and in a stormy night, an old man was closing his small game shop. He was locking the doors and flipping the sign and have the ''Closed" side face the door's window. He stretched his arm and rubbed his shoulder while letting out a loud yawn. As he locked the door behind him, entering his house behind the shop he heard someone calling him from upstairs ''Grampa!'' the voice cried. It sounded shaky and a higher pitch than what he's used to.

''I'm coming!'' He answered.

He went back and as he was climbing the stairs, he saw his grandson standing at the top. He was a little boy with amethyst puppy eyes and tri-colored hair. He was in his sky blue pajamas on the stairs, with tears slipping on his little cheeks.

''Yugi! Were you crying? Oh, come here to your grandpa.'' The 6 year-old boy ran fast and jumped into grandpa's arms.

''I-I'm scared'' said Yugi with shaky voice.

''Don't be scared; thunder storms sound scary but they won't hurt you.'' He didn't reply. The little boy was covering both his ears and hiding his face into his grandfather's shirt.

''Don't worry my son, it should be over soon.'' Solomon looked up at the clock, it was 11:05 pm ''And it's way past your bed time, young man!''

''…Can't sleep.'' Yugi mumbled, his face still buried and pressed against his grandfather.

''Come here, I'll stay with you until you fall asleep, and it's the last time. Men have to grow big and strong and not let even a hurricane coming at them can scare them!''

"But Grampa, you're not big.'' (A/N: Yugi understood the word "Big" as "Tall")

"Did you just call me short?'' Solomon picked Yugi up on his shoulder and tickled him, forcing some giggles out and having him apologize while trying to push himself away. He grinned at seeing his mood uplifted and wiping his tears and walked him to his room. He tucked his grandson in and sat next to him, patting on his body to calm him down from the striking sounds of the fearsome thunders hitting nearby. He stayed and told some stories of his youthful days to distract Yugi until he falls asleep.

Solomon watched Yugi as he finally fell asleep, the thunder storm has calmed down a bit and only the downpour can be heard which gave enough peace of mind to the little child and slept soundly. Exhaustion overtook his body as he finally got up to go to his own bedroom. He took a quick glance at his wrist watch and thought of catching as much sleep as he can before the opening time of the shop. He lied in his bed and snuggled into his sheets and had almost dozed off when he heard a crashing sound and jolted back up. The noise definitely came from downstairs. He treaded carefully but frantically to where he assumed was the source of the noise. He reached the back door of the house and was shocked by the scene in front of him.

The door was forced open to the point one of the door hinges was plucked out and the door was barely hanged by the lower hinge. The door also seemed to have some red smudges mixing with the rain and dripping down; this almost looked like a scene that came out of a horror movie. However, nothing caught his attention like the silhouette that sat in the doorway. He rushed to it the moment he noticed what it really was; it was a woman collapsed at his doorway clutching tightly to something covered with a cloth. The thick robe she wore over her was drenched as well as her own clothes and the cloth she carried. Solomon wondered where this woman came from and how long has she been under this harsh weather. But before he could ask any of his many questions, he was interrupted by the woman's weak glare, the void glare in her eyes didn't intimidate him; they seemed like they were expressing a desperate need for help. The woman finally spoke up with a hoarse voice…
