Author's note:
Today is a special day, because on the 18th September 2017, I posted my first fanfiction. So this is in honour of that. The original fanfiction is German and also written by me. It was posted on and can be seen there. The name in German is "Ein Jahr ist es her!". My name there is Narusaku.
If you want to hear a bad English speaking guy, just take a look at my YouTube Channel. I play there a game on English. The name of the Channel is "Teufelskanal".
After nightfall, on the 18th September 1977, James Potter entered the seventh grade boy's dormitory. Sirius and his other two friends were sitting on their beds. They were chatting about school and other irrelevant things. At least James considered them to be that.
"Today it's been a year ago," he complained.
A soft grin appeared on Peter's face but he remained silent, unlike Sirius.
"What happened last year?" he questioned, slightly annoyed, probably because he already had a good idea what his friend was about to say.
James lifted his arms dramatically and said, "On this exact day one year ago I started asking Lily for a date. And what has always been her response?" Remus closed his book with a slight grin, turned to James and answered. "Everytime you ask her out she keeps rejecting you?"
James gave Remus a grim look. "I didn't actually want an answer."
Having finished dinner earlier than James, his friends already went back to the Gryffindor tower without him. After James finally finished eating as well he stood up left the Great Hall. On his way through the corridors he couldn't help thinking about his chances with Lily. He still held on to the hope that he would finally get a Yes this year, but realistically he knew the likelyhood of that was very small.
When he arrived at the little flat, the headboy and -girl shared, the door to Lily's room was already closed. James took a seat on one of the two sofas in front of the fireplace and stared into the red flames.
He stayed there for quite a while until eventually the last flames disappeared and the room was nearly completely shrouded in darkness, just the moonlight shining through the windows and giving the room a cold feeling.
James wrapped his warms around his legs and looked out of the window.
At this moment somebody stepped to the sofa. "Why are still up so late?" James turned to the direction he had heard the voice from and saw the girl he'd been thinking so much about.
Lily was standing right next to the sofa and her beautiful eyes were focused on him.
Right then he answered without thinking. "I was thinking about you. You are the light burning inside my heart, giving it the power to endure."
Her eyes were unfathomable and for a moment she was quiet, but then she took a seat next to him.
"I really don't know why, but right now you saying that doesn't bother me at all."
He smiled and asked her, if he had permission to say it again tomorrow.
"No, you don't have permission. But if you show me that you've become a better person … maybe I will say the same one day." She said, closing her eyes and leaning on his shoulder.
James laid an arm around her and whisperes in to her ear. "I solemnly swear that I'm up to some good."
