She cracked her deep brown eyes open at the sound of footsteps on grass, only to be met with darkness. 'It's still dark out, who the hell would be here?' She thought, slightly annoyed. The street lamp that sat beside the park lit most of it up. However, she slept in the darker part, right beneath a small slide. After pushing her dark blue locks out of her eyes, she sat up and looked around. Suddenly, she spotted the figure that had woken her from her slumber. Their back was towards her so she could only make out very little of them.

She noticed they had dark green hair or maybe that's just the lighting? And wasn't very tall. They also donned a gakuran. So "they" is he? He could also be female, I mean wear what you want, but they didn't quite look like female. The strange kid walked a little further and earned himself a small groan from the swing he sat down on. Now that he was facing her, albeit with his head down, she could make out some of his features. His eyes were pretty big but she couldn't tell exactly what colour in this light or position. She also noted that his curly, dark green hair stuck out from everywhere. She wasn't going back to sleep whilst he was here and seeing as almost no one ever came to this particular park, even during the day, she wanted to know why he was here. She got up and walked towards him.

"Uh, hi?" She started before he shot his head up and met her eyes. She was right, his eyes were huge and looked like a dark green colour. But she also noticed something she had missed before. His face was red and blotchy and the whites of his eyes matched the colour of his face. The tear steaks that led down his face only further proved that he had been crying.

"Are... are you okay?" she questioned.

"I-I'm fine." He replied quickly, wiping the tear stains off of his face.

"Hey, as much as I don't know you, I'd be willing to listen to whatever happened," He stared blankly at her for a while before she added, "Uh, you don't have to-"

"O-Oh! Sorry, I got lost in thought!" He started to push himself back and forth and stared into the slightly illuminated trees.

"I just don't get why Kacchan hates me so much."

"Ka… Kacchan?" She tried.

"Kacchan's my childhood friend! I've known him since before I can even remember!" He replied, ecstatically.

"Oh. And you said your, childhood friend, hates you?"

"Well, I don't know. He acts so mean when I'm around. I might be quirkless but I can still try!" He let go of the chains to put his hands on his hips. Meanwhile, she came to the conclusion that, that was the reason he was here crying. She saw his arms tense up so she closed the distance between them, stopping only an arms length away. He slowly turned his around to face her.

"B-But I'm not quirkless! That's just a metaphor I use. I-I-I use it to-" She cut him off by placing her hand on his shoulder causing him to cower and throw his arms up for protection.

"It's alright. I don't mind." He lowered his arms and stared at her, open-mouthed.

"R-Really?"

"Yeah, I actually used to know someone else who was quirkless." Suddenly, memories of her parents began to flood her mind. There they were. Lying motionless, blood spilling- she shook her head to clear her thoughts.

"Yeah, they were great people. Strong too." She added but he looked skeptical.

"R-really?" He repeated, this time much more doubtful.

"Really." She assured a smile spreading across her face at the much warmer thoughts of her life.

She stretched her hand out. "By the way, the name's Hidemi." Midoriya grabbed her hand and shook it.

"Ah, I'm so impolite! My name's Midoriya. Midoriya Izuku. Is Hidemi a family name?" She shivered at the question.

"No, I don't have a family." Midoriya's eyes widened at this.

"Really? You could come around for dinner if you want. Obviously not now it's, like, 11:30 but you should come around. I can give you my address." She'd be lying if she said she wasn't shocked.

"Oh, uh okay I'll think about it." No-one ever really wanted her around. No-one bothered to even spare her a glance. Plus, she was homeless and probably, no, definitely filthy.

"So what are you doing here?" She asked. Midoriya's eyes drifted off to the side.

"Just trying to clear my head, y'know?" She hummed in agreement.

"What about you?" At his question, she tensed up a bit.

"I… I live here." She trailed off. But instead of the typical, 'Oh you're homeless? Eww!' she got a different, more unusual, response.

"I figured." She was now visibly shocked. Honestly, she shouldn't have been surprised. She did just say that she doesn't have family.

"Wait, and you're okay with that?" Midoriya shrugged.

"Some people would say being quirkless is worse than being homeless anyway." Hidemi's face hardened at this.

"Well I think you can be a hero anyway. With or without a quirk." Midoriya's smile was hopeful.

"Alright thanks, well I have to get going. If my mum finds out I've been out, well, it won't be good," He got off the swing.

"I'm going out of town for about 3 weeks. But I'll be back. When I come back I'll come here and you can stay over and have dinner. You will be here right?" Hidemi snickered.

"Unless I get a better offer!" Midoriya laughed and started to walk away.

"I'll see you in 3 weeks!" Hidemi walked back to her sleeping bag and fell asleep almost instantly.
