I don't know why, but that is all I keep thinking about.
Sara is like my daughter.
Sure, I have Ellie, but she doesn't need me, doesn't want me.
And Sara knows that.
When I act fatherly around her, whether shooing Sanders away after Cammie scratched her or scolding her for rushing into a room before it has been cleared, she understands.
She may not like it, but she understands.
When I try to give her advice, she sometimes just gives me a soft smile, letting me know that she knows.
But we don't talk about it.

That was before Gil.
Before she had someone that swore to protect her.
That was my self-appointed job.
It was dark for her for a bit.
I knew that.
But, when I heard Gil during our interrogation of Dr. Laurie, I knew.
I think I knew before he did.
