Please enjoy Stanley's thoughts about Tara when they first meet in "The Lawyer"! As many of my readers have probably figured out by now, I prefer Bobby and Tara as a couple instead of Stanley and Tara, but I do think that the two of them are really cute together.
If you have a quote that you really like from this show (and there are so many great quotes from this show), please comment it. I just might write a short story based up it! Talking about quotes, I do quote "The Lawyer" quite a bit in this story; I do not own it. That is an honour that belongs to Paxson Entertainment, the Johnson Brothers, and Pebblehut Productions. I am just borrowing their characters and several quotes!
Now, please read, review, and enjoy!
Stanley Abbott, an NSA agent, came into the bull pen of the surveillance team under the leadership of Jack Hudson. He had just given this team a tip about a terrorist attack several hours earlier, and now he was here to help them do more work on building a case and preventing further attempts at bombing. The rotor, Lucy, caught Agent Hudson's attention and he walked over to greet Stanley.
"Jack, this is Stanley Abbott, from the National Security Agency," she informed the short team leader.
Jack shook hands with him. "Great. Thanks for coming." Jack turned to the rest of his team. "Stanley is the one who gave us the heads up about the shopping mall. He's a code breaker, works in cryptology over at the, uh, NSA."
Stanley interjected. "Well, actually, to be precise, my specialty is steganography." Some blank stares met him. Everyone seemed to be waiting for an explanation. Stanley took a breath to start explaining, but then a short, blonde female agent that he had not noticed before spoke up from the side.
"It's the, uh, science of putting secrets into what otherwise look or sound like ordinary messages. For example, if I said, 'I am going to the XYZ,' you would know that I was speaking in code."
She understands. Stanley felt his heart leap at their instant connection. He was in his element. He loved to explain his job, and here was someone who had apparently taken the time to learn about cryptology. He jumped in.
"But if I say, 'I am going to the store,' it sounds like an ordinary message."
The brilliant blonde smiled and continued. "But that message may really be saying, 'I am going to the White House'."
She thinks like me. "Right." He smiled at her. She understands!
"Right," she echoed with a nod.
She knows codes. She's an agent. She's beautiful.
Jack looked at Stanley and motioned to the blonde, "You'll be working with Tara."
Stanley stared at her - this lovely woman who was speaking his language. She understood the world of computers and codes and long hours spent staring at screens - he was sure of it. He moved toward her and shook her hand. She looked up at him shyly.
I think that this will be the best assignment that I've had in a long time.
As they began to work together Stanley became convinced - any cryptogram that he tried to work on with Tara would be decoded. He knew it.
Maybe even that code called "love".
