"Trixie, what is that on your neck?" Diana Lynch asked her friend, an expression of wariness and amusement on her face.
Trixie frowned and looked up from her math textbook that was sprawled out on her kitchen table. "What?"
Honey peered over Di's shoulder to see what she was looking at. Honey felt herself blush as she stammered, "Uh, maybe we should ignore it, Di."
Di shook her head, her raven-black hair rippling down gently past her face. "No, I'm curious, Honey." She raised a brow at Trixie. "Is there something going on between you and Jim?"
Trixie looked at them in complete confusion. "What on earth are you talking about?"
"That . . . spot . . . on your neck," Honey spluttered, her famous tact leaving her. She gestured at it, but Trixie still looked bewildered.
"The hickey, Trix!" Di finally exclaimed. "You have a hickey on your neck!"
Trixie stared at her in shock. "What? No! That's not—where did you get that idea?!"
"Well, then what is that dark spot on your neck?" Di demanded to know. None of the girls noticed the pair of blue eyes watching them with interest from another room.
"The dark spot on my neck," Trixie repeated. She brought her hand up and rubbed her neck. "Oh! I know what you're talking about." She looked at them like they were crazy. "It's a bruise. I accidentally hit my neck on the corner of a cabinet."
Honey opened her mouth to say something, but several moments passed before she simply squeaked, "Oh."
Di was red-faced, but she still smirked at Trixie. "Someday, Trix, you will have a hickey on your neck, and you won't be able to hide it."
Trixie just grinned and winked at her. "Yet I'm sure that if I ever do get a hickey, you would have gotten one first."
Di felt her face flush even hotter, and she could only drop her head and mumble something inaudible.

"Brian, what's a hickey?" Bobby asked his eldest brother a few hours later.
Brian whipped his head around to stare at his brother in shock. "Where did you hear that, Bobby?"
Bobby shrugged. "When Di and Honey came over to study with Trixie earlier today, they thought she had one on her neck. But what is it?"
Brian's mouth opened and shut several times before he could speak. "She—he—what?!" He shot up from his seat at his desk and clenched his fists, his brown eyes filled with fury. "Jim had better run fast and far, because when I see him again, I am going to kill him!"
Bobby stared in astonishment as Brian abruptly left the room. He blinked, and then ran after him, shouting, "Brian, you never told me what it is!"
Author's Notes
Disclaimer: Do I really need to keep putting these on my stories? Anyway, I don't own the characters and am not making any profit off of this!
So this was inspired by the prompt "hickey" by GenE at Jix. I have to admit that it was fun to write *grin*
Thanks for reading!
