'It has been five long years' Toshiro Hitsugaya thought as he stepped into the fresh air of Karakura Town.
Matsumoto: Are you ready for extreme shopping taicho?
Toshiro: That is not why we are on earth, Rangiku.
Matsumoto: Please will you come with me?
Suddenly, both of their cell phones went of for a huge hollow.
Toshiro: I will get it.
He then left his gigai with Matsumoto and went to kill the hollow. When he got there it turned out that the third level menos grande was masking its riatsu. At that point it was to late to get Matsumoto. He had to fight. After about two minutes of intense captain level combat, the menos grande pinned Toshiro to the ground. Toshiro closed his eyes and waited for the final blow. When it did not come he opened his eyes. In front of him was a girl with shoulder length black hair. Her riatsu seemed a little bit familiar. She quickly sliced the menos grandes mask. The last thing Toshiro saw before blacking out was her face hovering above his own. When he woke up, he was back at Urarhara's shop.
……: Hey elementary student, it is about time you woke up.
Toshiro: Who are you?
……: You really don't remember me, shorty?
Toshiro: Karin, it has been a long time.
Toshiro tried to stand up but couldn't.
Karin: You got yourself beaten up pretty badly. You were lucky that another shinigami saved you.
Toshiro: Do you know who it was?
Karin: Nope, they just disappeared. Now you need to get some rest.
Karin lied him back on his bed, turned off the lights, and left the room.
Toshiro: (to himself) I wonder who saved me. I do remember that they had shoulder length black hair and were female.
For a few hours Toshiro pondered on who could have saved him. After a couple hours Karin came back to check on him.
Karin: Toshiro, how do you feel?
Toshiro: I am fine.
Karin: Ok. Since I know that you did not get a wink of sleep these past couple hours, I will sit here until you fall asleep.
Toshiro: You don't have to.
Karin: Shhhhh. You need rest.
Toshiro suddenly came to a realization. He stood up slowly and walked over to Karin. He kissed her on the cheek
Toshiro: Thank you.
