Nothing really to say here except that I have a lot of updates planned for over the summer. I shall not fail thee. Now onto the fluff bunny that refused to leave my brain so I can sleep.
She knew she shouldn't be doing this. She knew it couldn't last.
She knew in her heart that if his comrades found him here, they would denounce him, cast him out, brand him a traitor. She knew that her brother would kill him first chance he got as well. It was dangerous for both of them, but especially to him.
She knew also, that soon she would be compelled to kill again, that inborn desire would overwhelm her and she would eventually give in. She was not a fool, she knew the warning signs more or less, she knew when they'd kick in, when to send him away or leave herself.
What she did not know, however, was why he had come to her, timid, scared, shaking like a leaf, trying to speak to her, the enemy, to see if there could be peace between her family and his people. It had been pathetic, seeing him so shaky in front of her, asking why the bloodshed needed to go on, whether she had enjoyed it and, if not, why do it at all. But she had also conceded it to be quite a brave action. Stupid, very stupid, but brave.
She did not understand why he came back, more than once, so desperately trying to understand her, to help her and her brother, to see if maybe there was some way to quell the bloodlust. It was admirable, touching even. So touching, in fact... that it had stirred something deep within her, a feeling near forgotten over the years of bloodshed.
What she truly did not understand, of all things, was how he had developed feelings for her, come to genuinely care for her despite being a hated monster... or why that had caused that stirred emotion to come bubbling to the surface so hard and fast that her lips were on his in that same instant.
He had come to her many times since, always discreetly, always hesitant, staying with her only if she deemed it safe. More than once clothing had been discarded and left in a heap in the corner of some abandoned building or cave, and more than once had it also been utilized to stifle the noises that sprang unbidden from her throat, lest they attract unwanted attention. This had been such an occasion, and she smiled slyly at the recollection.
Perhaps what they were doing was indeed foolish. Perhaps it was dangerous and reckless. And perhaps, indeed, they would be faced with the fact that they could not have any real future together.
But for now, sh was content to snuggle a bit closer, wrapping her arms around her lover's smaller form as she dozed off and dreamed of a world where they could indeed be together for all time.
