Based off a prompt I found on Tumblr.
It was a month after what had been dubbed "The Battle for Hogwarts". Celebrations were still held every night, and during the day funerals were conducted solemnly. The castle where the Dark Lord had finally been conquered, many areas having been reduced to rubble, was nearly finished being repaired. Due to generous donations from many families, Hogwarts was even able to be updated along with being prepared. Too many muggleborn's delight, the castle was now more electricity friendly, and in certain areas you could even get Wi-Fi.
The wizarding world appeared to be at peace. Many 'dark' families, such as the Malfoys, were trying to make amends. Nearly every paper had interviews from the members of the Order of the Phoenix. But amongst the cheer and joy exploding from wizarding Britain's very core, there was one who just wanted quiet.
Harry Potter, the Boy-Who-Lived, walked into the Forbidden Forest. Twigs snapped under his shoes, bugs hummed, and birds sang. Bow truckles and Pixie's chatter could be heard on the wind. In the shadows of the willows he could see the threstrals resting. Harry knew that in the coming school year many more students would know that the carriages didn't pull themselves. He took a deep breath, and rested his hand on a tall oak.
But, there was something scratched upon the oak. Scraping away dirt and moss, he saw a crudely carved heart. His breath hitched when he saw the letters engraved inside of it.
JP + LE
At first, Harry thought that maybe it could possibly be some other couple with the same initials as his parents, but looking down he knew it was them. Below the JP and LE were the words,
Padfoot is cooler than Moony! - SB
That is a lie. - RL
No its not. – SB
Wormtail's the best! – PP
Stop writing on my tree, you gits. – JP
James, it's kind of sweet. – LE
No, it's vandalism. – JP
Prongs is a buzzkill. – SB, RL, & PP
Shove off. – JP
Harry smiled lightly, tracing over the words with his thumb. He could just imagine his godfather following his parents on their date and seeing them carve this, and then bringing Remus and Peter to add to it. Pulling out his wand, his cast a charm to make the tip sharp, and painstakingly carved a much larger heart around the words of all of the marauders. Slowly, carefully, he wrote a new addition.
The Marauders, Forever In Our Hearts.
The Boy-Who-Lived turned away from the tree and started back the way he came.
Soo…. I was in a one-shot mood, so here you go. If you're following my Percy Jackson story, at the present it is on hiatus, I'm sorry, I'll come back to it soon but I don't know where to go from where it's at.
