Saviours need heroes too.

He watched him, he had done since their fifth year, and he had stood up to him. The raw passion in his eyes that day on the quidditch field. Since that day he was captivated.

His emerald green eyes where so full of sorrow ad fury all the time these days. Was there no space for happiness anymore?

His pale mouth was in a constant frown, his brow furrowed in constant concentration.

Draco's heart broke as he watched his supposed arch rival cry into a book in the restricted section of the library. Harry doesn't know that Draco watches him. Harrys' mind is chaos, powerful confusion and sadness clouds his mind.

Hermione and Ron don't know. Harry can't stand them treating him like some delicate piece of bone china. He just wants to be hugged and kept safe from the world that expect so much of him. Just for a few hours, all he wants is to be free.

Free from all expectations. Not having to worry about anything. That's all he wants, if only for a few hours.

Draco knew it was wrong but he had dove into Harry's thoughts one night whilst Harry was asleep. The pain and yearning there was so intense that it broke his heart.

"Harry?" came a quiet voice, full of concern and sincerity.

Draco couldn't stand it anymore. He had to do something, anything.

When Harry turned to the voice. He saw Draco. Anger and sadness flashed across his face, as he realised Draco had called out his name. Defeat shined in Harrys' eyes.

"What do you want Malfoy?" asked Harry feebly.

Draco didn't say anything. He just walked over to Harry and fell to his knees beside the raven-haired boy. Harry flinched and hung his head, using his fringe to hide behind.

Draco felt a lump form in his throat. Raising Harrys' head so he was looking at him in the eye. He brushed his fringe out of his eyes and wiped away a tear with his thumb.

"To save you." Said Draco softly.

Harry searched Draco's face to make sure he wasn't joking with him. Draco looked into those emerald eyes; there was huge turmoil behind them. So much, it made Draco's breath catch in his chest as he looked though into Harrys' soul.

Draco answered Harrys' subconscious question by pulling the raven-haired youth into a warm and tight embrace.

Draco held Harry, and Harry clung to Draco as if he was his life support.

For one moment, both boys connected to one another. As if they had merged, their pain no different from the others'. Draco felt the smaller boys pain lessen with every tear he cried as he clung to him for dear life.

Once the crying had subsided. Harry looked up at Draco with so much uncertainty, it shattered Draco's demeanour, leaving him as vulnerable as Harry was.

Harry hiccupped from crying so hard.

"But why-"

Draco silenced him. Harry hadn't to ask the question. Draco already knew the answer.

"Because even saviours need a hero." Whispered Draco as he held Harry close again.

The end
