Angel is a dumbass, and Dennis knows it. It pains him endlessly that the moody Vampire is indeed the dumbass who Cordelia loves though she yelled at him that he was not that dumbass, a mistake she's bemoaned countless times. Everybody Dennis knows considers Angel a hero, but Dennis knows the truth for he sees it in his beloved Princess' anguished eyes every night.
He's the one who's there for her when she cries, who holds her though she can barely feel the ghostly whisper of his existence crawling over her skin. He's the one who dries her tears and tells her that it'll be all right, though she can't really hear him.
He's the only one who knows just how much of a dumbass Angel is for having Cordelia love him but never opening his eyes and heart to her, and though he can never tell him, he would love to also be the one who gets to kick his dead, dumb ass straight into Cordelia's bed where it belongs! Instead he holds the only real friend he's ever had through another torturous night of a broken heart and curses Angel for being the biggest dumbass he's ever known.
