A long rambling, kinda coherent but mostly not look into Spencer's head, regarding Wren, Toby, and the subject of broken people. I think it's set in episode 2x21, and references 2x17, the Jenna/Toby relationship, and the series in general. So, basically, Spencer's very drunk thoughts.

Sharp Edges

Wren doesn't have any sharp edges.

He's soft, and rounded, and there's nothing in him that will splinter if she pushes too hard. Or cut her if she holds him wrong. He's whole, and that ... She should want that more than she does.

She should want him more than she does. He's safe. He should be her safe place to land, because he's always been there. He's always come back into her life, exactly when she needs him. There's nothing in him she needs to fix, and there's something in him, something good and kind, that makes him want to fix her. Something that makes him love her, want her, despite knowing how very broken, how very unsafe and unsuitable she is.

She should want that. She does want that.

But she wants Toby more.

Toby isn't rounded, and there's nothing soft about him. He's all edges and angles and broken pieces, and nothing about him fits together right. If she pushes just a bit too hard, touches him wrong, she feels the flinch, feels him pull back, and that hurts far more than it should. Because it's her, and she's not Jenna, and, back then, she would never, could never, have hurt him.

But Toby's more broken than she is, and 'A' seems to love poking broken things. The thought of him not being safe around her, the though of telling him to leave, pushing on all of the broken pieces, hurting him far worse than Jenna ever could, simply because he loved her, and was afraid of Jenna, it makes her feel sick.

She does it anyway.

And Wren picks her up again.

Because while Wren is soft, he doesn't ever break. 'A' can't ever hurt Wren, and 'A' can't use her to hurt Wren, because Wren is blissfully whole, with no dark secrets, and no weak spots, and an ability to see things the way they are, and give her as much space and time as she needs. 'A' has no leverage when it comes to Wren.

But ... Toby needs so much love, and so much protecting, and he's so damaged, and 'A' threatened to kill him! What the hell was she supposed to do? Let 'A' throw him off another scaffolding? She couldn't live with herself if 'A' ever hurt him again, and she couldn't look at him, and not be worried that he'd be hurt, or worse, because of her.

He needs so much more than her, he deserves so much more than her. She wants him. Oh does she want him, but she knows that he's got too many sharp edges, too many weak spots, and it's not fair. It's not fair, because he's so small, and so broken, and so stupid sometimes, but so deserving of love, and so in need of love, and 'A' is making her take it all away from him.

She knows that she's got too many sharp edges, but Wren doesn't seem to care. She knows, and he knows, that something happened that made Toby hate her, but he holds her anyway, and tells her she perfect, and he doesn't think her edges are all that sharp anyway, and she wants Toby, but she kinda loves Wren, and this is going to be okay. It has to be okay.

Wren doesn't have any sharp edges, and he's not going to get any by being with her.

xXx

Well, that's all she wrote. Drop a review on the way out, please?

A/N: Just a small thing. I don't hate Wren. I actually kinda love him, particularly with Spencer. Toby's my favorite character, Spencer is awesome and the Spoby ship has always been adorable. They're three great characters, and this is in no way meant to attack either ship. I love both. I'm probably being paranoid ... am I being paranoid ... skip this if you believe it irrelevant.
