A/N: I got the idea for this story when I heard "The Boys of Summer" come on on the radio at Giant Eagle. It contains Bubbles/Buttercup, so if you don't like, don't read. It sucks because I'm really not good at writing romance. Plus, this is pure fluff, so yeah. Don't be too harsh or anything. Anyway, please enjoy!

Summer Memories

It was the evening of August the twenty-seventh in the city of Townsville. The sun was setting beautifully on a tall hill in Townsville Park. On that hill sat a girl, staring sadly into the distance. Tomorrow was the first day of school, and although she was normally an upbeat girl, she was less than excited for it. The summer before had been absolutely perfect; there was nothing that could make it any better than it already was. Sure, she had her share of heartbreak during those three months, but she knew that it was nothing but a part of life that she would get over eventually. Suddenly, she heard a call, breaking her from her thoughts.

"BUBBLES!"

Bubbles turned around and saw a green streak of light in the sky, and less than a second later, her black haired sister was standing next to her.

"Come on, Bubbles," said Buttercup impatiently. "The Professor asked me to come find you; it's time to get ready for school tomorrow."

Bubbles sighed and nodded sadly. When her sister noticed Bubbles' uncharacteristic behavior, her expression immediately changed.

"What's wrong?" asked Buttercup in a more gentle tone than before. Bubbles was silent for a moment, before speaking up.

"I... I'm not ready for summer to end..." She looked at Buttercup as a single tear slid down her cheek. The sadness in Bubbles' eyes gave Buttercup a feeling of sorrow that she hardly ever feels. She sat down next to Bubbles and put an arm around her.

"Please, don't cry..." Buttercup said. "It's not that bad..." She looked at her sister and their eyes met. For the longest time, the two of them just stared into each other's eyes. Without realizing it, the two of them leaned in closer to each other until their lips were touching. Their kiss lasted a good amount of time before Buttercup finally pulled away and they looked at each other again.

"Umm... I guess we should get going now," said Buttercup, a little bit embarrassed.

"Yeah," agreed Bubbles. She watched as her green eyed sister got up and flew away, and then she stood up too, a bright smile coming over her face. When she kissed Buttercup, she had realized the truth: there was something that could make her summer better than it already was. Smiling, she flew away. Summer may be over, but what's to come is just as -- if not more -- exciting.
