H.S.L.G.O. Drop

She had prepared all her life for something such as this.

Lilia Hanviver sat quietly in her cramped drop pod anxiously waiting for that sudden jolt of energy that would launch her into the atmosphere of the planet below. The storm trooper was a six year veteran and never in her career had she participated in as bold a move as this. A high-speed low-gravity orbital drop was virtually suicide, but a once in a lifetime thrill that she would never pass up.

The Solkenera campaign was dragging on far too long on the planet of Hadrapon, Finally after years of deliberation, arguing, confrontation, and negotiations; Segmentum command gave the order to proceed with a massive planet-strike drop on top of Hadrapon's capital of the same name. To ensure the slightest amount of success, it was imperative that their most elite troops lead the attack.

Fourteen full regiments of shock troops, drop grenadiers, and storm troopers had been chosen for the attack and the 1788th 'Hell's Angels' Steel Legion Corp was their number one choice.

Lilia kept her powersword and hell-pistol close. The moment this pod disintegrated around her, the fighting would begin. There would be no pause. The executive order was the city surrender lest its occupants be slaughtered by the ensuing Imperial sledgehammer. No response had been received in a month and by that time it had already been decided to cleanse the city by blood.

The forces of Chaos had become much too powerful and it was obvious that no one was going to return to the light of the Emperor's grace. Only in death can they be reconciled. Twenty-seven Imperial battleships and heavy cruisers sat in geosynchronous orbit over Hadrapon and the order would be given soon.

They were being headed by regimental command from the Apocalypse class battleship Haven's Fall where the 1788th, 457th, and 9081st storm trooper regiments would be launched.

The attack began with a massive orbital bombardment designed to flatten the city in a matter of hours, following the bombardment would come the initial attack wave with the purpose of establishing a beachhead for the remaining regiments of the battle group. Lilia could only imagine what Hadrapon looked like now after three hours of lance battery and intense laser fire.

"All regiments, prepare for drop."

Finally the time had come.

"Drop pod release in fifteen seconds."

Lilia made sure her harness was tightly pulled across her body and that her weapons were secured. The lights in the pod turned from white to red and an alarm was sounding in the hallway outside. Her heart began to beat uncontrollably as the countdown began. This was it. This is what she was destined for.

"All personnel, clear deep-strike chambers for drop pod release."

Gunther Prinn, Lord-General of the battle group suddenly came through the vox-caster, "Remember, soldiers, complete your objectives and this victory is ours. May the Emperor protect you all."

"Drop pod release in ten seconds."

A pause.

"Drop pod release in five, four, three, two..."

Hell's Angels, Hoorah.

"One."
