This is just something random I came up with Mindless Chloe/Derek fluff!

"Derek?" Chloe whispered carefully, peeking around the doorframe into the room her boyfriend and his adopted brother were sharing. "Are you awake?"

Derek woke up with a grunt. "What is it Chloe?" he mumbled groggily.

"It's the nightmares," explained Chloe, her voice trembling.

Derek heard the fear in Chloe's voice, and pushed himself up off of his mattress. He walked over to where she was standing, and leaned over her. The moonlight reflected off of Chloe's eyes, and the terror she was hiding in her voice was clear in them.

"Come on," said Derek.

He grabbed Chloe by the hand and dragged her back to her room. The kids, Aunt Lauren, and Kit were currently living in a huge old Victorian mansion in Washington. Kit had called in a favour with an old friend, and they all figured that getting out of New York was a good idea.

Derek sat down beside Chloe on her bed, and wrapped an arm over her shoulders. "Do you want to talk about it?" he asked her.

"It's the same as always," she whispers, "dead corpses, crawling towards me. And then I look closer and it's you, or Simon, or Aunt Lauren, or someone else I know."

Derek pulls Chloe onto his lap, and she tucks her head into the crook of his neck, wrapping her arms around his waist.

They stay like that for awhile, silent, Derek comforting Chloe, Chloe soaking in the security. But then, all of a sudden, Chloe starts to cry. The sort of cry where you can't breathe, and it takes all of your focus just to remember how to inhale.

"Chloe, we're fine. We're all okay." Derek soothes her. "I will never let anything happen to you ever again, I promise." He rubs small circles on her back, and her breath hitches. Soon enough, Chloe begins to calm down, her sobs reducing to small hiccups.

It's one am, and the house is silent. The only sound that can be heard is the creaking of trees and the howling and yipping of coyotes, not werewolves.

Derek pushes Chloe down onto her mattress, pulling her blanket up over her. He starts to rise from the bed, but her hand shoots out and hangs onto his for dear life.

With a sigh, Derek sinks back onto the bed, and stays perched awkwardly beside her, one hand clasped with Chloe's, the other stroking her hair.

After a few minutes, Chloe is asleep again. Derek gets up to leave, but hears Chloe start to whimper. She tosses lightly in her bed, and Derek's heart breaks; she is so broken.

He goes back into the room, and lies down beside her. She rolls towards him, and buries her face in his chest. Immediately, her breathing calms down and a sigh passes from between her lips. She relaxes into Derek's tentative embrace, and soon is peacefully asleep.

They stay like that throughout the night: Chloe curled against Derek, her hands resting on his chest, Derek's arms wrapped around her waist and his head resting on top of hers.

The night passes in peace for both of them. No nightmares interrupt their slumber.
