They've been together for 30 years now, married for 28. When Regina decided to cast the curse, she left her memories, and his, intact. The Evil Queen was all an act, he saw through it from the start. They kept their relationship behind closed doors, locking out everything; her family, his merrymen, her cradle-robbing 'husband,' and Snow White. When Regina and Robin were thrust from the Enchanted Forest, they were finally free.
The first thing they did in the 'new world' was get married, and move into the mansion. No one aged, no one changed, for the first 16 years, they were extremely happy. Robin and Regina stayed 27 and 28, respectively, for that whole time. While Robin was happy and overjoyed the entire time, eventually, Regina found a hole. At first she thought it was the lack of friends, since she had such a hard exterior. She talked it over with Robin, and he recommended she see a therapist. After speaking with the cricket, alone and together, Regina and Robin both discovered something missing from their lives. They were the perfect age, both had successful jobs, they owned a large home, and had a happy marriage. They wanted children.
It ended up being a hard 2 year ordeal. They tried everything, naturally for a year, with no success. Then, Regina ended up in a mess of shots, treatments, hormones, and eventually, sadness. IVF had failed, multiple times at that. She was falling apart, figuratively of course, but Robin saw it just the same. They were both miserable, spent nights crying into pillows or each others arms. Regina took a leave of absence from work, unable to shake the unbearable pain of not being able to get pregnant. Babies were all she could think about now. Robin saw them crumbling as people, and reached out to Archie in a last resort attempt to bring them back together. Archie recommended adoption, and both of their faces lit up. Their storm of sadness was finally over.
It doesn't take long to find a child, which was incredible for them both. A little boy, who they name Henry, comes to live with them. He was a fussy baby, that led to many sleepless nights, but they love it, and they love him.
When Henry turns 5, Regina and Robin throw him a party with his kindergarten class. Many parent bring the children's younger siblings, and Robin immediately notices the look of longing in Regina's eyes. He mentions it that night, and she gives a guilty smile. They start their hunt for a little girl in the morning. After a year of searching, and a birth mom who changed her mind, they started to lose hope. That is, until their social worker called. When she said it was a boy, it didn't matter to them. Their son was found.
Roland was a great baby, and they all lived happily for the first 3 years. Then, Henry started asking why he didn't look like Robin, and why Roland only bared a small resemblance. They sat him down and told him the truth, he was adopted. After that, things went truly bad. With Robin, Henry was still the happy kid he'd always been. With Regina, he was a nightmare. At first, they thought it was jealousy, because Regina had been spending more time with Roland, since he was still a toddler. Robin explained to Henry that Roland was still learning many things, and his mother was helping him. At that, Henry gave an eyeroll and exclaimed,
"You shouldn't let her teach him anything, she might make him evil."
"What? Henry why would you say that?" Robin asks, confused.
"Ms. Blanchard gave me the book, I know she is the Evil Queen! I want to find my real mom!" Henry yelled, throwing himself out of the chair and running up the stairs.
In the following weeks, Regina craved the comfort of her oldest child, but he pushed her away. Robin and Roland were left to pick up the pieces.
"HENRY! Henry! Are you okay? Where have you been? What happened?" Regina frantically spits out, as she runs out the door and grabs their son tightly.
"I found my real mom!" Henry says smugly, running past Robin and Roland in the doorway.
"You're Henry's birth mother?" Regina asked, tears rolling down her face.
"Hi." Is all Emma manages to get out.
"I'll just go check on the lad, make sure he's alright." Robin says, patting his wife's arm for support, then walking back up the steps, grabbing Roland at the doorway.
