A/N This is my extended version to a scene in the episode "Postmaster General Franklin"... what SHOULD have happened :). Part of this will be earlier in the episode, then it will kinda jump around some.
And once again, I do NOT own Liberty's Kids or anything related to them except this story.
Dearest Mother,
I know I should be keeping you up to date with the latest news, but there is one thing that is even more important that I haven't told you as yet. You have heard me talk about James before, I'm sure. Well... I don't quiet know how to say this...
Sarah paused, trying to find the right words. How could she just tell her mother that she liked James more than a friend? She couldn't just blurt it out. Frustrated, she dipped her feather in the ink and began writing again.
I think I'm falling for him, mother. As I've ofted told you, he is the most senseless young man I have ever met next to Henri, and yet when he's near me I have to catch my breath. I hate him and love him at the same time. If only father were around at a time like this. He would always know just what to say.
Sarah added a few more lines before signing her name and sealing the envelope. As she took it off to the mail bag, she saw James fiddling with the press handle, which then whacked him in the head. Sarah stiffled a giggle, trying to keep her composure. If only he knew...
Towards the end of the episode.... Several days later.
"So... we've done it?" Sarah was in shock.
"Yes!" James replied.
"My mother will get her letter?!" Sarah's shock was reinforced by the tone and volume of her voice.
"She will, Sarah, you can count on it." James assured her, and Sarah smiled hugely. Her next words were as shocking to James as they were to herself.
"James, I'm so happy I could kiss you!" James rolled his eyes.
"Sarah, Please! I've suffered enough at the hands of the Brittish!" Sarah glared at him angrily. The bartender standing a few feet away just shook his head. It was obvious to him that these two liked each other. Why neither one admit it was beyond his comprehension.
Although Sarah kept a straight face, her heart was beating faster. How could she have let that slip? Well, James didn't seam too embarressed anyway. Maybe he didn't like her back. But James was good at keeping a straight face as well; he had surprised himself when he didn't blush from Sarah's unexpected words.
Without warning, Sarah leaned closer to James and gave him a quick kiss on the check. James looked horrified.
"Sarah! Didn't I say I had suffered enough?!" His look of complete and utter disapproval caused Sarah to laugh. James though, who had turned to wipe off the kiss, was secretly thrilled. He couldn't hide the small smile that appeared on his face. And neither one noticed the bartender's chuckling and wide grin as he walked away.
A/N I'm sorry its so short. I originally wanted to just do the kiss on the check, but as I was writing this I thought to add a leter from Sarah to her mother telling her about her love for James. Let me know what you think!
