Out of all the things to ask her before charging onto the roof of Fort Drakon, she did not expect this.

She stumbled a bit on the stairs when he asked. His voice sounded sad, a little desperate. She looked at him quizzically before thinking of what to say.

"I think Urthemiel has a nice ring to it."

He just sighed before rushing up the stairs. His face had gone rough, like stone. No more time for emotion here. She wasn't going to plan a baby shower with him before the killing and rebirth of a god.

She had ignored it the whole time. Thinking of other pressing things. Crossing over the Frostback Mountains was tough, no room for thought while trying not to stumble to her death.

When nine months were almost up she stopped at a small village on the coast of The Dales. She paid for a room in the towns inn and paid the midwife of the village for when her time came. All that was left was the waiting. It was harder not to think about it then. Especially with incessant kicking the child did.

She had nightmares that night. Flemeth laughing at her in her dreams.

"Will you name the child after me, dear daughter?"

"I hope she doesn't grow to murder you like you did to me."

"Will you steal her body with that Grimoire of yours?"

She woke up screaming. Her water broke.

The birthing was hard, but she's been hurt worse before. After everything was settled the midwife left the baby with her to bond.

She had been left to ponder what to name it. She couldn't just name it 'Baby' like they named the dog 'Dog'.

"You look so much like..."

But no time to think of that.

The midwife entered the room asking, "So what shall you name it, then?"

"Duncan." She said, without thinking.

Because he is the man who brought the Grey Wardens into her life.

He was the one to start this whole mess.

He was the lone man that was the cause to this effect.

And she will honor him with naming an Old God after him.

She's sure he'd be happy about it, she thought grimly.

Umm... Happy Mother's Day? Not very motherly, I know. Well, enjoy it anyway.

First was going to have it be Alistair's but was going to name it after the female warden, then changed it so it could be Alistair's or the male warden. Then did the weird and unexpected and named the baby after a man she's never personally met. But hey, he's the domino. And she's clever enough to see that.

*Urthemiel is the name of the Archdemon. In case you didn't know.*
