Fight, Flight, or Flirt
"Eeeeeh!!!!"
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!"
"Sarah!! Help!"
"Deal with it yourself, Christa," I said tiredly.
"But, they're snakes," a younger child stage whispered.
When will they learn? "Yes they are snakes, and you are a bird. Get used to living together."
When Wyverns Court was first founded, I was one of the first to sign up. Now I work as a day care for avian children. Sadly, they're parents still wanted to raise them proper avian style, without the serpentine. I wonder then why they chose to move here.
"No!" another child screamed. This kid was fighting a serpentine, trying his best to wrench his arm away. "I won't go!" Great, now there are tears involved. I don't like crying, it is annoying along with a habit of headaches. The man, held on, not even fazed when the toddler morphed. All the avians had a predictable reaction.
"Sarah, I'm going to take Christa home now," a woman came up with her child. Christa was raised by avians but with the cheek of a serpentine. Spoiled kid.
Every other bird started to edge away. The kid was now doing his best to bite his captor.
You might be wondering whether I like serpentine. I don't really care. Okay, I do a little. What they have achieved as a culture is amazing. I would love to see one dance. My vast amount of knowledge comes from the Keep's library. Almost every day there as a child was spent near a shelf.
Unfortunately, my wishes are nearly impossible due to one person. Speak of the devil and he shall appear… "Hello, Christopher." Christopher is my soon to be pair bond. I am doing my best to put it off as long as possible. My parents are not thrilled. Its not that he's a bad guy, but I can't stand his "formal" attitude. If its not avian like, he doesn't even think about it.
Overall I am a shy avian stuck in a shell that I can't get out of. What's a girl to do when your parents arrange a marriage that you don't want? What do you do when you want to learn about different cultures deemed unrespectable in society? Of course, you move to Wyverns Court.
