Yesterday I was listening to music while I was doing my Art homework, and this is in one of my many playlists. It came on and suddenly I knew exactly what I was going to write for the songfic. I have been wanting to write a Jibbs songfic with this song for a while now but I never had any ideas so that was absolutely FABULOUS. Who knew Art homework could be so helpful???
Honestly, can someone please explain why I always get ideas for stories while I am doing something school related???

Leroy Jethro Gibbs walked down 29th Street and into the park there in Washington DC. He saw his ex lover Jennifer Shepard in the arms of another man. Gibbs felt a pang of jealousy. He and Jenny had broken up a month ago. He noticed she had a smile on her face and her eyes were lit up.
The day after, he saw her walk into a bar with her current boyfriend. The guy said something and Gibbs could hear Jenny's beautiful laugh. He noticed that both her smile and her boyfriend's were twice as wide than Gibbs's and Jenny's when they were dating. She looked happier.
Gibbs knew he was the one that made Jenny break up with him. This was the second time they had dated, the first time she had left him, and this time he told her about his first wife Shannon and his daughter Kelly who were killed in a car crash.
She asked why he had not told her sooner and he said he did not know. She accused him of not truly loving her before running out of the house in tears screaming that they were over.
Gibbs did truly love Jenny. He always had, and he always would. He promised himself that he would try and be happy that she had moved on with another man.
Gibbs knew Jenny looked happier.
"You'll be happier too one day Jethro. You'll find someone" Gibbs's good friend Doctor Donald Ducky Mallard, the Medical Examiner at NCIS where Gibbs and Jenny both worked.
Gibbs knew that he would not, but he just smiled and nodded at the doctor.
Gibbs sat in the corner of his basement. He remembered sanding the boat with Jenny, making love to her in this very room and many others. He had just finished a bottle of bourbon and he kept telling himself she was happier. Was she?
He had hurt her. But he needed her more than ever. He knew that her boyfriend deserved her more than he did. But he was still in love with her and he knew that.
He guessed she looked happier. Ducky had said one day he would feel it too, but Gibbs was not so sure. He smiled and nodded every time someone asked him if he liked Jenny's new boyfriend. He knew he was happier with her. Finally Gibbs had accepted Jenny was dating someone else, even though he still loved her. Gibbs went upstairs and lay down on his sofa and pulled the covers over himself. He could finally sleep peacefully.
Gibbs was awoken by a banging on his front door. He bolted upright and ran to it. He saw Jenny standing there, soaking wet and her face was red from crying. He opened the door and pulled her into his arms. She sobbed and sobbed into his shoulder.
"What happened?" Gibbs asked her.
"Todd was kissing a woman in the restaurant. I went to the bathroom and then when I came out they were kissing. He cheated on me Jethro, and I don't know what to do" Jenny cried.
"Shhhh Jen, it's OK" he whispered to her as she weeped.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you that day" Jenny said as she looked up.
"You had a good reason to. I should've told you about Shannon and Kelly, Jen. For that I'm sorry. I don't know if you feel the same way Jen but I truly, deeply love you. I always have and I always will" he told her.
"I love you too" Jenny assured him before she put her lips to his softly.
They were happier with each other.
