He had celebrated the turning of the new year in a different place every year since he had been old enough to travel on his own, but now he knew that he was home again and his chief scheme was to stay exactly where he was for as long as there was breath left in his body and then to return and haunt the man who held him close. He had celebrated with the finest of foods and far too many women in every famous city from Paris to Tokyo to London and back home to Metropolis, and yet now, none of those foods appetized him and no woman earned so much as a second glance from him. He had no need or desire for anything the world offered save for the man he loved, the man who had rescued him from himself and finally succeeded in teaching him a lesson his mother had striven hard to prove to him but had ultimately failed: that the greatest treasures in the world could not be bought for they were of the heart and soul.
And his heart and soul, Lex thought, turning in the strong arms that held him tenderly, were finally complete. He was whole, and all he wanted for Christmas, New Year's, and any other day or night for the rest of his life was his hero, his love, his Superman as he had affectionately nicknamed his lover after finally learning the secrets he'd been hiding throughout his school years. Lex clinked his champagne glass against Clark's matching glass filled with eggnog before downing the rest of his drink. He watched Clark finish off his eggnog with a smile, then took their glasses and set them on their nightstand.
He replaced the glass in Clark's hand with his hand and wrapped his free arm around his strong, enticing body. Leaning in so close to him that there was no breath left between their bodies, he whispered again, "Happy New Year, my beloved," and licked the creamy mustache of left over eggnog from his mouth. Then he performed the single act that he wanted to do more oft and grander than anything else in all the new year, the past year, and all the years yet to come. He kissed him and led him gently back to their bed to celebrate the new year in the most wondrous style he would ever know.
"I love you, baby," he whispered again and then covered his beloved man with hot and sweet kisses that filled them both with such joy and passion that their hearts and souls immediately flew, hand in hand, together pass the cosmos and beyond the furthest reaches of existence and more sweetly passionate kisses and gentle, erotic touches that would mark their lives and fulfill them forever more.
"I love you too, Lex! Happy New Year, Lex!"
The End
