"He has your eyes" I said as I brushed the dark hair out of the baby's face; sparkling emerald eyes blinked up at me emitting a small smile – a rare thing in this war and as I passed him back to Lily, a sudden feeling of déjà vu struck me.

~eight months earlier~

I stared at the small baby clutched in my cousin's arms; he had a few locks of soft blond hair and icy grey eyes which stared up at me in an unnervingly steady gaze – unblinking, unwavering, just staring straight at me.

I had risked a lot to come here today, there was a war going on and we were on opposite sides; I was an auror and the Malfoy's – even if no one could prove it yet – were Death Eaters, but this was a time for family and we could put aside our differences for a few hours, we knew that we were safe: we would not hand each other over, house elves couldn't so the only problem was if Lucius came home early because he would kill me and probably Cissa as well for being a traitor something I have been for many years.

I looked again at the baby's face and then up at Narcissa, "He has your eyes" I say "Malfoy eyes."

"No" she replied "No, he has Black eyes"

We smiled at each other and then I left – a silent goodbye, nothing said, nothing needed.

The next time we saw each other we were fighting and her husband nearly killed me, three days after that he tried again.

Their marriage may, as Narcissa will one day realise, be loveless but maybe just maybe one good thing has have come out of it, I hope so.

~~OooO~~

Green eyes, black eyes, Potter eyes, Malfoy eyes, Black eyes, Evans eyes, what does it matter? We are all equal, no matter Voldemort or anyone else says.
