Chloe Sullivan walked out of Smallville General Hospital, a smile on her face. She was thinking about what had just taken place inside, in the hospital records room. A doctor had almost caught her and Clark. Until she thought fast.
It wasn't really a fast thought for her, though, which was the sad part. Chloe had always had feelings for her best friend, they hadn't gone away. Even after all they had been through and all this time, they were still there.
But he didn't need to know that. After all that had gone down between them, Chloe and Clark were finally in a good place in their friendship. And Chloe wasn't about to do anything to mess that up. At least not right now.
Clark Kent sighed as he followed his best friend out of the hospital. He felt himself subconsciously touching his lips, thinking of the kiss that had just transpired in the hospital records room only moments ago.
He and Chloe were digging for information, as they had so many times before throughout their friendship. But a doctor was about to catch them. So Chloe had grabbed him and kissed him. And the doctor bought it.
But so had Clark. He had put all those feelings for Chloe behind him, convinced that Lana Lang was indeed the girl in his heart. But one little kiss from Chloe managed to turn his world upside down...again.
"What are you thinkin' about, Kent?", Chloe asked a moment later, even though she already knew, and she loved already knowing. Especially because it was about her and the fact that she had kissed him.
"I got such a kick out of the look on your face, and that doctor's. Oh my God, they were both so priceless. Figures, the one time I can't really use a camera..." She laughed out loud and Clark just shook his head.
"Yeah, real funny.", He said. But Chloe thought it was, so she just smiled. "I'm just glad we got outta there without being found out. Definitely dodged a bullet." One way or another, he added mentally, sighing inwardly.
"You're right, no repercussions. That's always good." So you think, he thought, but not saying it. The last thing he wanted to do right now was get that romantic vibe again. But here it was, smacking him right in the head. Or really, on the lips.
"That was good thinking.", He said instead. Chloe smiled. "Yeah, well, I can't take all the credit." Clark raised his eyebrows. "What do you mean?" Chloe just shook her head as they made their way through the dark parking lot.
"I mean that it was a combination of my woman's intuition and my skills as a dynamite reporter. Both gifts that were God-given to me, therefore I just cannot take all the credit." That got Clark to laugh.
"Well, all I can say is that if that's the case, you're gonna make one hell of a reporter, Chloe Sullivan." They climbed into her blue car and Chloe started the engine, turning the radio on as well, as she drove out of the parking lot.
"Was there ever any doubt?", She asked, with a grin. Clark smiled too and said, "That's very true. There never really was. And I don't think there ever will be, really." Chloe just smiled to herself.
Then she decided that she just had to torture him, because it was something that she loved to do. She had always known just the right way to push Clark Kent's buttons and it would always bring her some pleasure.
"So I gotta tell ya' Kent...you're still one hell of a kisser." She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye and saw that he was blushing. She just shook her head and grinned, saying, "You are far too easy."
