Yugi lived with his mean stepmother and two stepsisters. He worked hard all day long, cooking and cleaning and watching dishes. The only friends Yugi had were two little duel monsters named Kuribo and Dark Magician, a Celtic Guardian, a Feral Imp, and two Sangans. "Yugi, we love you," they would say. One day the stepsisters are invited to a ball. At the ball Prince Yami would choose a wife. Yugi helped the stepsisters get ready. Then he asked, "May I come, too?" "You can't go to the ball," answered his stepmother. "You don't have a gown to wear."But Yugi's friends Kuribo and Dark Magician and the Sangans sewed ribbons and bows to one of his dresses. "oh," said Yugi, "it looks so pretty. Thank you my little friends.""Wait!" cried Yugi. "I'm coming too." The cruel stepsisters were angry because Yugi looked so lovely. They tore at his dress until it hung in rags. Poor Yugi. He cried and cried. His friends cried, too. Then a small woman appeared in a cloud. It was Yugi's fairy godmother. "Bring me a pumpkin," she said. "I'll fix things! Bibbidi, bobbidi, boo!" sang the fairy godmother as she waved her magic wand. The pumpkin changed into a coach the duel monsters into horses, the Feral Imp into a footman, and the Celtic Guardian into a coachman. She waved her magic wand again, and Yugi's rags turned into a beautiful gown. On his feet are tiny glass slippers. "Goody-bye," called the fairy godmother. "the magic spell will end at midnight. You must leave the ball before then." When Prince Yami saw Yugi, he fell in love. Yugi and Yami whirled around the ballroom. They danced every dance together. As the clock began to strike midnight, Yugi ran away. One of his glass slippers fell off his foot. At the final stroke of midnight, Yugi's beautiful gown became rags once more. His coach disappeared, too, and in its place was a pumpkin. But Yugi was still wearing the other glass slipper. Yami looked and looked for Yugi, but he only found the glass slipper Yugi lost. "The one who can wear this slipper will be my wife," he said. A grand duke was sent out to have every maiden in the land try on the slipper. Yugi's stepsisters tried and tried to make the glass slipper fit. But their feet were too big. Yugi's stepmother locked Yugi in his room so he couldn't try on the slipper. Bu Kuribo and Dark Magician got the key and pushed it under the door. "Hurry, Yugi," they said. When the mean stepmother heard Yugi running down the stairs, she broke the glass slipper. "that's all right. I have the other one right here," said Yugi, pulling the slipper out of his pocket. The grand duke put the slipper on Yugi's foot. It fit perfectly. "Yugi's going to marry Prince Yami!" sand the little Sangans. Yugi did marry Yami, and they lived happily ever after.
