Burn Notice, Michael + (Undead) Larry, There are cartoon creations made of people and of lies

There are cartoon creations made of people and of lies. One of them is called Larry. Actually, a lot of them are called Larry. He's particularly fond of the name, and not only because that's what most people know him as. He likes the double 'r' hidden behind a single sound, the way you can shorten it to 'Lar' for an affectionate nickname and the similarity to 'lair' and 'liar' that nickname gives him – just an 'I' short.

Larry is suave and always wears suits. He's a dashing older gentleman with a penchant for knives and dead bodies, but who never kills people he doesn't have to and always has a smile ready for his buddies. He comes on an off as easy as a second skin. Give him a moment and all that will remain of Larry is a scattering of eraser bits.

Just like Michael.

The only difference is Larry knows he's false, knows he's a two-dimensional caricature living in a multi-dimensional world. He knows his amoralism and psychopathy is as much of a farce as Michael's patriotism and philanthropy. Given the right incentive, both will tear apart as easy as the drenched sheets of paper they're drawn on. It's all a show. Larry puts it on for the world – but Michael, he still puts it on for himself.

One day, Larry will get him to see that. He'll submerge that image in enough self-doubt that it crumbles in his grasp. And then – maybe then – the kid will finally realize what Larry has been trying to teach him.
