A Bad Ending to a Bad Day

Batman was having a rotten day. It seemed as though every villain in Gotham was doing their best to be a part of it. And Batman was angry. First, Riddler decided to blow the Federal Reserve wide open: it took Batman 2 hours to get the situation under control. Not 15 minutes later, the Joker decided to throw a party with the mayor as the "guest of honor". But, much to Joker's disappointment, the party ended ahead of schedule, thanks to a certain disgruntled Dark Knight. Then, just as Batman was gonna call it a night, Poison Ivy decided to redecorate the city with rather venomous décor. Now Batman needed to take a shower with his suit on.

Yeah, it was a heck of a night.

Meanwhile, Nightwing and Robin had returned from patrol hours ago, and they were bored; which was never a good thing. After playing 5 rounds of checkers, 3 of which Dick lost, they were ready to explode. During a pause after the last game, following a particularly clever move by Tim, Dick had an idea.

"Hey Tim," Dick said as the idea became a plan. "Wanna do something fun?"

"Yeah," Tim said simply, leaving the "duh" unstated.

"Okay, here's the plan," Dick began, an evil grin playing across his handsome face.

It was half past 4 in the morning when the Batmobile roared into the Batcave. As it pulled to a stop, an exhausted Batman stepped out, only to end up landing painfully, in a very un-Batman-like way, on his butt. He looked up just in time to see Nightwing and Robin exchange a high five amid a burst of laughter. Batman stood up scowling and rubbing his backside only to find to object of his embarrassment: a banana peel. His scowl turned to a murderous one.

Nightwing and Robin were still doubled over in laughter. Wiping tears from his eyes, Dick stood up grinning.

"Bruce, that has got to be the funniest thing I've seen all week," he stated through fits of laughter.

Tim nodded his head in enthusiastic agreement, still unable to speak.

"I'm going to bed," The Batman growled as he stormed past the pair of pranksters.

He got about halfway up the stairs before they both started laughing again. Bruce shook his head and sighed. This had been one heck of a night.
