Based on episode 14. How did Henry and Stanley manage to get down from that lighthouse between scenes, after all? And did they ever manage to fix the van?
I'll never climb anything bigger than a flight of stairs again, Henry thought miserably. For once he'd been thankful for Stanley's "stupid disguises", his Mountain Man getup had come with a full set of ropes and grappling hooks.
Once they'd gotten down from the lighthouse, then came the task of going back to the van, fixing the van, and then driving back to the hotel.
Easier said than done. None of the roads seemed familiar, and to make matters worse it was starting to get dark.
"Stanley, I think we're lost," Henry sighed, even though his brother was fast asleep. He wished he'd thought to make Stanley drive so he could rest; after all, it was partially his fault that every muscle in his body ached right now. He tried to count the other cars on the road in order to stay awake before remembering there were none.
Sighing, he pulled over and hit the brake, turning off the ignition and slumping against the steering wheel.
"I wonder if they'd miss us if we slept here tonight and drove back in the morning," he mumbled. Just then, Stanley finally began to stir and opened his eyes.
"Henry? Why'd you stop here?"
"Because I'm exhausted."
Stanley sighed, patting him on the shoulder.
"I'm sorry, Henry. I really blew it this time, didn't I? I should've never touched that crazy bird cage, look where it got us," he said. Henry's head shot up in surprise; though he knew Stanley never meant any harm with his antics or trouble-causing, it was rare that he actually expressed guilt over them. Not because he was an unfeeling person, but because guilt and self-blame weren't terms in The Dictionary Of Stanley Chan.
"Well...it's not all your fault. I mean, neither of us knew the van was gonna break down," Henry said.
"I know, but I sure didn't make things easier. Heh, sometimes I think I cause us more trouble than all the suspects and monsters combined," Stanley said with a weak chuckle. "So yeah, sorry for that."
Henry smiled a little, reaching over to throw an arm around his shoulders.
"Hearing you say that almost makes it worth being stuck out here."
"So you're not mad?"
"Come on, Stanley, if I stayed mad at you every time you goofed up, I'd have stopped talking to you ages ago," Henry said. "Just because you drive me bonkers doesn't mean I don't like you!"
"Aww, Henry..." Stanley pretended to wipe a tear from his eye. "That's the sweetest thing you've ever said to me, my heart feels so warm!" Henry snorted.
"Has anyone ever told you you're a real drama king?"
"Eh, probably." Stanley unbuckled his seatbelt. "Here, why don't I drive so you can sleep?" Henry blinked.
"Really? You don't mind?"
"Yeah. I'm all rested up, and you did a lot of the work so you've earned it," Stanley said. Henry smiled gratefully, unbuckling his seatbelt.
"You're something else, you know that?" He gave his brother a brief hug. "Thanks, Stan."
They switched places, and Henry fell into a peaceful sleep as the Chan Van took off down the road once more.
