I sat cross legged on my bed. My trembling hands were grasping old and burnt photos. I felt so stupid, why was I looking at these? I wished that I wasn't able to find a answer for that but I already knew the simple answer. I missed them. I missed my family. It wasn't fair and definitely the cruelest thing any person or to be more exact nilock could do. I can still remember, not vaguely. Clear as crystal. It haunted me in my nightmares and contaminated my thoughts like pollution in the air.

My aunt walked into the room where I was told to sit. Along with her was a fireman and police officer. My aunt's face was tear-stained and her eyes were glassy. The fireman stayed in the background while the police officer, a blond haired lady with green eyes kneeled down in front of me.

"Hey sweetie, how are you?" She asked tightly

I didn't reply. I sat and stared at her, she got the memo that I wasn't replying, she sighed a and pursed her lips awkwardly. My aunt began to sob loudly and ran out the room in floods of tears. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. Why was my aunt even crying? Had something happened to my mummy and daddy?

"I'm really sorry sweetie...your parents...there was fire in their honeymoon home...we've not found any bodies but...ugh...your parents are presumed dead" The officer told me sympathetically

I was paralysed. I didn't let any tears fall. I clenched my fists and hung my head low. Why me? Why my parents? Why did some stupid fire have to kill them? The officer left the room. As soon as she did, I fell to the floor and started pounding my fists. Punching the wall and the ground. I screamed in fury yet in sadness as well.

"It's not fair! It's not fair!" I shrieked

My face was like a waterfall. Tears running down my face at high speeds. I clutched the photos tight until my knuckles turned white. I could smell food cooking and then heard footsteps coming down the hall. They were approaching fast. Quickly I stuffed the photos under my pillow, wiped away my tears. Praying that whoever it was didn't notice my tears.

"Dinner's almost ready, if you want to come and sit with us" Mia smiled walking in

"Who made it?" I asked nervously

"Well Antonio was going to but he was too tired so I did" Mia replied beaming

I nodded. Plastering a fake smile on my pale face. Making my bloodshot eyes sparkle bright with fake joy. My mother, always said I could be a great actress if I wanted to.

"I'll be there in 2 secs Mia" I said, putting on my usual playful smirk

She nodded and left the room. As soon as she was definitely gone I pulled out one of the photos. It was the one of my father, mother and myself when I was nothing but a vulnerable little baby. We all looked so happy. As if nothing could go wrong with our lives. We were wrong. Very wrong indeed. I turned the photo over and looked at the writing. It said.

"Our wish, is to love our daughter to the end of time and beyond. No matter what the circumstances may be. No matter what obstacles cross our path. We shall love her forever."
