Wanted to write something to do with Warhammer, only to realise I already had done so! Just my own take on the story of Alith Anar (familiar to any High Elf players or those who've read Gav Thorpe's "Sundering" trilogy. First time I've written anything for Warhammer, and poetry's not my strong suit, but I thought I'd give it a go. Reviews and opinions not necessary (though they're always welcome); just thought I'd try something different for fun and to get this out of my head.
Enjoy!
Lament of the Betrayed
Once I had hopes and dreams
Freedom, a family, peace and all that it brings,
But now all those illusions are gone, it would seem
From the treachery of he who would be king
A prince who murdered his sovereign,
A queen whose visage hides a whore,
A murderer who aided the fall of his king,
The greedy who all wanted more
Their lust for power led them to war
And my people all who stood in their path
But weakened as we were from the conflicts before,
We were no match for their wrath
My father was slain on the field of war
A regret to have failed on his last breath
My mother, grandsire, I saw no more
Captured and tortured to death
And on that dark day, I swore a grim vow
To hound the traitors until death
My hopes and dreams all but gone now
I must avenge all lost to my last breath
All I have left is vengeance, no more
An avenger, all I can ever be,
And now I follow the path of war
For it is the only one left to me...
