Summertime was a grand time on Sodor. Tourists from around the word came to Sodor to see and do new things. Balloon rides over the beautiful Sudrian countryside, glorious warm golden beaches with sparkling blue seas- and hearing the brass play was a highlight to their stay.

The brass band was holding a grand concert, and Edward was chosen to take the bandsmen to their concert venue.

He was dreadfully excited- he loved pulling the band, and he loved their music too.

So he was bustling around in the yard the day before the concert, getting ready for the next day.

Thomas soon noticed that his old friend was cheerful than usual.

"Your smile is as wide as your smokebox, Edward." He observed.

"I can't help it Thomas- I'm taking the brass band tomorrow night. Well, I must dash. Goodbye Thomas!"

"Don't crack your smokebox!" Thomas called out teasingly in response.

...

Edward hurried to collect the brass band. He was so excited to hear the band play.

So excited in fact, when he arrived at Brendam Docks, he wasn't paying attention when a crane was lifting out a ship's boiler.

Suddenly Edward felt a massive pain in his side and he found himself in a pile of coal, with his crew beside him.

Cranky had witnessed the event, and all he said was "You silly little engines! You always get in the way!

Poor Edward was in too much shock to respond to this wittily.

...

The Fat Controller was immediately at the Docks as soon as he heard the news.

"You'll have to be repaired," he said, looking at Edward's boiler. "Bertie shall have to take the brass band instead."

...

That night, a storm raged across Sodor. The rain poured down heavily and splashed off Edward's face.

He felt miserable. He was stuck here getting repaired, instead of anticipating the concert.

The workmen worked hard without saying so much as a word to Edward.

He was now sad, lonely, and soaked.

...

Next morning, the Fat Controller came to see Edward.

"Please sir how much longer will I be here?" He asked.

"Too long," replied the Fat Controller. "I'm sorry Edward, but Bertie's picking them up."

At that response, Edward felt a sensation similar to heartbreak.

...

Meanwhile, Bertie was on his way to the concert with the brass band. But because the roads had been flooded due to the storm, his driver took a shortcut.

Which turned out to be a really bad idea, for within minutes of embarking on the shortcut, poor Bertie got stuck in the mud- and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get free.

"Now we'll be late!" A band member cried out in dismay.

"Tune up your tubas!" The leader exclaimed in response. "We'll play out a symphony SOS!"

...

Meanwhile, Edward was picking up coaches in the shunting yard when he and his crew heard a peculiar noise.

"It sounds like music." Noted the driver thoughtfully.

But his engine disagreed. "It's not- it's an alarm! They're in trouble!"

So the old engine charged to the rescue.

...

The brass bands were beginning to lose their puff when they heard another very different puff coming from behind them...

Edward!" Bertie Exclaimed in relief.

The brass band was very happy to see their dear old friend again.

"Don't worry- I'll get you to the concert! And I'll get help for you as well Bertie!" He added. "I'm sure Butch can help you out of there!"

So he set off with the brass band all boarded with their instruments to the concert venue.

...

That night, the concert was a great success. Everyone enjoyed their music- especially Edward!
