The long, dark corridor smelt of moss as Luna walked down to the door at the end of the hall.
"Oh, hello. I didn't see you there," she said as she stepped into the empty room.
It turns out the room wasn't empty, a thestral was seated in the center of the room, sniffing at Luna. It decided that she wasn't a threat and laid its head back down.
"Well, aren't you a pretty thing? Have you seen any Nargles around? My friend hasn't been getting a whole lot of sleep lately and I think that they have something to do with it," Luna walked up and give it a piece of meat, she always carried some around in her bag, in a section that she kept cool with magic.
It snuffled at her, eating the meat graciously. It obviously had no idea what she was talking about.
"Ah, I see, sorry to bother you, I guess I will be on my way now," she smiled and walked out the door, back down the Third Floor Corridor.

A few minutes later, she found herself back in that corridor, looking up and down for the small, annoying little creatures that prevent people from sleeping back crawling into their ears.
She felt they were in this hall, the Forbidden Third Floor Corridor. They hadn't shown themselves yet, but she was determined to help her friend.
"Come out, I'm not gonna hurt you, I just want to talk," Luna's whisper echoed throughout the hall, making it less of a whisper and more of a murmur.
There was no answer, but something darted out of the corner of her eye. She turned to find the source, but she had no luck find the nargle. She crept towards the area, getting closer to a torch than she wanted to, but it didn't matter, her friend needed her.
The torch lit when she got too close and the nargle flashed away, giving no way to tell where it went.
"Oh, darn, I will get you soon enough though," Luna giggled as she skipped down the corridor, not leaving any corner unsearched.

She came back an hour later with Harry and Hermione at her sides, "We need to find this nargle so that our friend can sleep."
"Come on Luna, there's nothing here, we should just go," Harry said sleepily, yawning lightly.
"There is Harry, and we need to catch it!" Luna said, surprisingly loud.
"Ok, sorry, let's go," Harry was well awake and very confused, Has Luna ever even raised her voice before now?
They searched throughout the Third Floor Corridor, not wanting to let Luna and her friend down. They soon heard a noise whiz passed them, and a small blur turned into a small creature on a wall. Both Harry and Hermione pulled their wands slowly, but Luna stopped them.
"It's okay, I will handle this," she whispered as she crept closer to the nargle. Once she got close to it, she began to try and calm it, "Shh, it's okay, we're here to help you."
The nargle growled lightly, slowly trying to mark its territory. When Luna showed no sign of backing down, it slowly walked towards her hand and climbed into it.
As they walked out of the Third Floor Corridor, Luna put the nargle in a little jar and put the lid on it.
"Thank you for your help, I couldn't have done it without you!" Luna seemed more than enthusiastic.
"It's no problem, anything for you," Harry said with a smile.
Luna blushed slightly and Hermione dragged Harry back to the Gryffindor Common Room.
"Go to bed Harry."
