A Day in the Life of a Captain
Starring: Toshiro Hitsugaya
DISCLAIMER: I do not own anything. Not even The Crimson Maiden.
Who needs a plot when you can just write this!?:
"Once upon a time, there was a castle, hidden deep in the forest of darkness. Nobody ventured into this castle--"
"Matsumoto."
"-- because it was dark and scary. All the adults told their children to never go near the forest, and rumors that a demon lived in the castle began to spread…"
"Matsumoto!"
"… No one knew if the rumors were true or not. But, there was someone living in that castle, in fact. A small girl stayed in the castle of the dark forest-- she would've been very pretty, but her eyes were deep crimson. They had always been that color… but her red eyes scared the rare few visitors away."
"MATSUMOTO!!"
Rangiku Matsumoto coughed, looking up from her fairy tale book. "Yes, taicho?"
"Why did you bring me here!?" roared Hitsugaya.
He had been dragged back into his office during the captain's meeting by his own lieutenant. The tone of her voice was so urgent, he assumed that something bad had happened. Now, not so much.
"I thought you would like to hear The Crimson Maiden," the strawberry-blonde replied, laughing nervously. Hitsugaya wasn't satisfied, so she added: "also, I thought that having another elementary school kid here would make the rest of us feel a little less uneasy." She coughed, gesturing to the other kids that sat around to listen to her story.
…
"OUT!!"
Matsumoto and the rest of the children scrambled out of his office. "Take these magical acorns at least!" the lieutenant insisted, dropping a couple acorns into her captain's hands.
"I SAID OUT!"
She made haste and flew out of his door, waving.
Hitsugaya sighed. He looked down at the seeds in his hands.
'Magical, huh?' They looked like any-day acorns. The stuff that squirrels ate.
He walked to his desk and sat down at the chair. The young captain pulled his glass of water forward and dropped the acorns into the cup.
Plop. Plop. Plop.
Hitsugaya stared at the acorns a little more. Still nothing.
He sighed, then turned his heel to get back to the captain's meeting. He would need a good reason for running out on them like that. The white-haired captain dragged himself glumly across the room, making each step as slow as possible.
FSSSWHOO!
Hitsugaya turned around as soon as he heard a sound crack from behind him. His mouth dropped when he saw what caused the noise.
A tree.
No, three trees.
Three trees had sprouted right out his drinking glass. HUGE trees, mind you.
…
"MATSUMOTO!!"
A/N: This story was derived from a writer's block I obtained while writing my other Bleach fic, How to be a Humanoid. If you liked this, be sure to read How to be a Humanoid-- a multi-chapter story starring Ichigo Kurosaki and his daily life with every Soul-Society dweller stalking him 24/7!
This story will not be continued unless requested, or until I run into another writer's block.
